Cover Page:
This will appeal to my target audience because the lighting is
very bright which will imply to the audience that there is not much being
revealed from the character, by choosing this plain white background and pure
white lighting for my cover page it will not only appeal to the audiences eye with
the bright mise en scene but will also permit the idea that not much is being
revealed but the overhead lighting from above will also imply that he is under
pressure to. This will link to my cover lines/main cover line as it states he is going
to reveal all later in the magazine. Also, the white background is a common
convention for my genre of Hip Hop and the white lighting will brighten the black
costume colours I have thought about without much editing needed.

Contents Page:
My target audience would appeal to this location as the
streets and outdoors are well know conventions to follow for a Hip Hop genre. As
I am shooting these images around winter lighting it gives me the perfect
opportunity to shoot the photo's in a much darker light than normal. This is an
advantage to me as my original plan to take the pictures late at night would not
have been approved with the camera time slots, however it does mean that I can
take the images when they are at a dim lighting and consider editing them later
on. The dark mise en scene is important for these images as I wanted to convey
the backstreet look on my model as this will most relate to the conventions of
Hip Hop artists and also what will appeal to my audience the most. By seeing this
image it will also state to the audience that the artist is down to earth and
therefore making him and the magazine relatable.

Double Page:
I am considering all three locations for my double page
spread image. I am having my model in a crouching position so I am considering
all low angle shots. I considered the stairs in the college building however I came
to the conclusion that this would be a bad location for the conventions of a Hip
Hop magazine because it may be obvious to the viewer that it is in a modern
building, as I want to convey a back street relatable look for teenagers I dont
think that this would be an appropriate location, it is also not a typical
convention for Hip Hop. Therefore, I am going to take 2 photographs; one with a
white plain background and one that is outside against greenery or a brick wall.
These images are much better suited conventions for my Hip Hop genre and will
therefore appeal to my teen target audience. I will choose which better suits the
magazine nearer to date.
