Water Injection System Pre-Commissioning


GENERAL GUIDELINES

Purpose/Scope
This work package encompasses all requirements
for commissioning, both mechanically and
electrically, the Water Injection System which starts
at the Water Injection Skid and ends inside the
enclosure atthe fuel nozzles.
Precautions
The quality of water introduced into the engine must
meet GE specifications.
Water in this system can attain high pressures; therefore,
ensure all gaskets and piping meet required standards.

TASKS

INITIALS

1.

Verify mechanical components are connected according to fuel system F&ID.

2.

Verify motor and pump are properly aligned.

3.

Verify gearbox oil level is within operating range and motor bearings are greased
properly.

4.

Verify system piping to skid has been cleaned and free of debris.

5.

Verify tightness of all fittings and flanges.

6.

Verify proper filters and strainers are in use.

7.

Verify opening and closing of all drain, vent and shutoff valves.

NOTICE
NEVER RUN PUMP WITH ZERO FLOW.

8.

Flush water injection piping by bypassing the control valve. Flush through skid,
however, do not flush through flow meters.

9.

Verify all vent lines are installed according to the F&ID and have continuous
discharge to the sump tank.
NOTICE
VERIFY WATER MEETS GE SPECIFICATIONS PRIOR TO ADMITTING TO THE
TURBINE. INSERT ANALYSIS REPORT IN THIS SECTION.

10.

Verify sample has been taken and analysis results meets GE specifications.

11.

Verify opening and position of Water Injection control valve; hydraulic pressure, or
electrical control, is required to stroke valve.

Verify proper gearbox ratios, as indicated on pump plate. (Refer to vendor manual).

ELECTRICAL CHECKS
13.

Verify operation of analog and discrete readouts.

14.

Inspect for visible damage to any cable or termination.

15.

Verify adequate distance between power, control, and instrument cables.

16.

Verify conductor connections at both ends; identification labels should be attached


to each conductor.

17.

Verify size and current capacity of conductors is suitable for application.

18.

Verify means of cable protection against mechanical damage at points where cables
leave cable trays or enter package.

19.

Verify grounding connections.


INSTRUMENTATION CHECKS

20.

Perform point-to-point checks using packaged supplied interconnect drawings.


Highlight drawing accordingly and insert signed copy in this section.

21.

Verify operation of analog and discrete readouts.

22.

Verify ranges and set points for all instrumentation listed in Water Injection System
Instrumentation Sheet. Mark each instrument as calibrated or verified in appropriate
column.

23.

Verify functioning of control switches.

24.

Verify the following records have been updated;
