COURSE DESCRIPTION: see catalog CLASS TIMES: FRIDAYS 8-NOON ON ASSIGNED DATES. REST IS DONE ONLINE/BY DVD. See course schedule on Blackboard. PREREQUISITE: None REQUIRED MATERIALS: Marawala, Human Anatomy & Physiology lab manual 2010 Marieb, Essentials of Human Anatomy and Physiology, latest ed. Use of a medical dictionary though not required is helpful. I prefer Dorlands, but Stemanns and Tabers are also okay. I would stay away from the highly stylized versions with lot of pictures but low of info. Most lab supplies are provided for you. Wear close toed shoes, comfortable clothing, preferably old clothes or an old shirt over your clothes on dissection and chemistry days.. Bring a mask for yourself on dissection days if you feel you may be sensitive to preservatives for specimen. Gloves will be provided by your instructor. A limited amount of coloring pencils are provided by your instructor. Safety goggles when needed will be provided First Class Meeting: registered students who fail to show up for the FIRST class meeting will be dropped automatically unless special arrangements have been made. Attendance: students are expected to attend all class meetings, read assignments and be aware of exam dates. In the event of an absence, it is your responsibility to obtain missed information. Attendance is an important part of the class. It Chabot CollegeBiology 50

will be monitored throughout the academic term. Given the
accelerated nature of a hybrid class, one session missed would equal to more than 2 regular classes missed. Therefore, two or more unexcused absences may result in a drop of a letter grade, and three consecutive absences could also result in an instructor initiated drop. In the summer 5-6 week session, 1 absence is all that is allowed and future misses would result in a drop by one letter grade. Drop: it is the students responsibility to submit an official drop card to the Office of Admissions and Records if he/she has withdrawn from the class. Failure to notify Admissions and Records that you are no longer attending may result in receiving an "F" for the course. Expectations: BE ON TIME!!! It is disrespectful to arrive in the middle of a class. Make every reasonable effort to attend the ENTIRE lecture and lab session. Take exams at the scheduled exam date. Ask for help. Devote at least 5 hours a week outside of class time to master the material. NO PLAGIRISM! Any student caught cheating on an exam or quiz will get an F for the test. Any submitted student work that is a copy of another students work, either past or present, or is from a source other than the student, will earn a score of 0. GRADING: Final Grades: 90 ~ 100% A 80 ~ 89.45% B 65 ~ 79.45% C 50 ~ 64.45% D < 50% F
Final grades will be based on the above scores.
The Possible points are a guideline. Actual amount may be differ by 5-10 points. Full credit is only given to on-time and completed assignments. Late lab assignments will not be accepted. All work must be completed by the last day of class. Incompletes are very rarely given and follow very strict guidelines of the College. They also need approval of instructor, Dean and the VP of instruction. Do not expect EXTRA CREDIT--MAKE EVERY ASSIGNMENT COUNT!
