thanking God for their many blessings. Additional flowers are sponsored by Leona
Bargstadt in loving memory of her husband, Lester.
The 2016 Flower Chart is now in the west hallway. If you would like to remember a

DECEMBER COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

The St. Johns Council approved the 2016
Budget at their meeting on December 16. 2015.
The general fund budget increased by less than two
and a half percent. Besides a good turnout for the
celebration brunch on December 6, the council
heard that pledges for 2016 were showing a good
increase and that the number of pledge cards and
time and talent sheets returned was up. A budget
forum is planned between services on January 9 in
preparation for the Annual Congregational Meeting
on January 24.
Midwest Sound and Lighting in Lincoln has
submitted a proposal for replacement and
upgrading major parts of the sound system. The
20-year old system is showing significant signs of
wear. Technology has also improved since the
current system was installed. The improvements
will have to be done in phases because of financial
constraints even though that will increase the
overall cost.
Pastor Justin introduced the new online
giving application. The council also received an
update on candidates for council and the
benefaction board.
A complete copy of the minutes is available
by mail or email by contacting the church office.

Interested in volunteering?
The Teen Mom Infant Childcare at Christ the
Servant Lutheran in Norfolk is in need of
volunteers to help care for infants 18 months
and under during the week days. Started as a
result of the Norfolk Coalition, the program is
rapidly expanding and volunteers are needed
to assist these infants with fine motor skills,
grasping, general play and feeding time. You
can volunteer an hour or two a week to several
hours a week. There are a few simple
requirements: pass a background check, be
able to move freely holding a baby up to 20
pounds and being able to feed and play with
the infant on the floor or at a table. If
interested, contact Jessi Sherman at 379-2477.

GREEN CARD REMINDERS

At the end of January we will no longer be
using the green postcards as a reminder
for weekly volunteers serving during
worship services. Because mail is not
reaching the final destination in a timely
manor, we will discontinue mailing
reminders while saving the church $600
each year!
When your new Volunteer Schedule for
February through May arrives, please
take the time to mark your home calendar
with the dates you are to serve.
For quick reference, a schedule for each
service (Saturday, 8:30am and 11am) will
be posted in the west hallway. The
current week/next week volunteers are
listed weekly in your bulletin and online
at www.stjohnsnorfolk.com in the
Announcements (last page). You can also
contact the church office during business
hours @ 402-371-1985. Thank you for
your help in this matter!
