Outline: The idea for our opening sequence is that 2 sisters (Samantha and Abbey)
goes for a workshop which is located in a school. Samantha (older sister) walks off
to go to the toilet and Abbey follows her. We will be taking a variety of different shots
from different angles to make sure that the audience knows where Samantha is
going. Abbey (Younger sister) looks around and sees a possessed girl sitting with a
doll, Abbey then moves closer to the girl, we will use dramatic sound effects to build
tension. Abbey then runs after the possessed girl, the movement of the camera and
the editing will be sharp and quick in every scene, this is to create tension. We will
be using non-diegetic sound when we take a close shot of the possessed girl. When
abbey stops running the possessed girl appears from the back, we will change the
lighting while editing the footage, this would make it easier for us to find the perfect
lighting, the lighting will be quite low as the genre for our film is horror. The last bit
will be when Samantha comes back looking for Abbey and the possessed girl attacks
her, this will be very quick and sharp. The screen will then go blank and the title will
show up, this will leave our film on a cliff-hanger.
Target Audience: The target audience for our film will be from the age of 15- 35.
This opening sequence will be suitable for anyone who is interested in horror films.
We have decided that the youngest viewers will be 15 years old, as we thought that
this film will not be suitable for anyone younger, as the genre for this film is horror.
We have chosen the age range after 15; this is because most mid age teenagers are
interested in horror films.
Comparable Products: When we came up with our production idea, we researched
what was needed in a horror film, this is so that we have an idea of what was
expected. We also researched what age group would be suitable for our production,
as there would be inappropriate scenes, which will not be suitable for young children.
Rationale: The setting of our production will be in an empty school, this is a very
basic setting as we all know something bad will happen if there's no one around the
character. The rationale behind this text is that older siblings should make sure that
they are looking after their younger siblings properly if they are in their care.

Representation in the text: In our opening sequence, our main character is a little
girl. We have based this around common expectations of a little girl, for example
having interest in dolls; we have done this so that many people can relate to this.
Success/ intended effect: the target audience, which is 15-35, will look at our
opening sequence giving us feedback of what they think about our sequence. We
will then collect all the results and compare the results from the teenagers and the
adults.
Generic codes and conventions: Our opening sequence will be in an empty
building. This is conventional in horror films as they often use empty rooms. We will
be editing the lights making it darker as this is another convention in horror films.
There will also be tension music, quick cuts and also camera angle. The reason for
this is because the genre is horror, so we need to make sure that it scares the
audience.
Overt message: The main message in our film is to always keep an eye on little
children, as they could get distracted easily. Always be aware of your surroundings
and also never wonder around on your own when no ones around.
Hidden messages: We dont have any hidden messages in our opening sequences.
Constraints: We dont have any limitations as they location Is in the school, we will
be filming after school, so that nothing comes in the way e.g. school children. A
restriction could be something like the setting, as the location is in a school, so the
school students could move around things/objects so we have to make sure
everything is the same each time we film.

Budget:
Total: 10
Doll- 7- we need to get a doll, which looks scary.
Makeup- 3- we need makeup to make Abbey (Little girl) look possessed, we will
make her look similar to the doll.
Food/Drinks - We will be filming for at least 2 hours, so its important that we bring
few snakes and drinks.
