Good Things Grow Here

Visit to Singapore (written by Miss Cottrell).

I found my visit to Singapore a very useful and eye-opening experience. During my visit I was able to visit
3 different International Schools and was fortunate to observe in many lessons, watch a singing rehearsal,
speak to lots of the children and even act as a guest judge in a public speaking competition. It was great to
speak to other teachers about their experiences and exchange ideas about our teaching practices and
schools curriculum. I am sharing my experience with staff and governors with a view to embedding some
of the good practice into our own curriculum.

Music Lessons
Our music teacher has spaces for a child who wishes to play the clarinet. If you are interested please talk
to Mrs Batchelor or Miss Cottrell.
Message from Mr Ford
I am very excited to be taking up the position of Principal at Mill View in September and continue to build
on the outstanding work of Mrs Walters.
I have been fortunate to have spent a very enjoyable year teaching Year 6 which has enabled me to start
to get to know the wonderful students and the wider school community. Prior to this I held leadership roles
in British international schools overseas and was Head teacher of Ashton Hayes Primary School.
This year has enabled me to work alongside the excellent staff who are all committed to providing the best
opportunities for your children. I believe that children should be actively engaged in their learning and will
be working with the staff to continue to develop the students abilities to ask questions, take risks, reflect
and communicate clearly. I aim to build on the creative, fun and challenging curriculum at the heart of Mill
View. I enjoy collaborating with students and staff and will ensure I take every opportunity to get into
classrooms to share the teaching and learning next year.
I understand the vital role parents and carers play in their childs education and I am keen to build on
these partnerships in order to continue to develop an exciting, happy and successful school. The chance to
work together with the other schools in the Cheshire Academy Trust is exciting and I believe this will
provide some great opportunities for the students at Mill View.
I plan to hold a meeting early next term to get to know all families and share my thoughts and vision for
Mill View Primary School over the coming years. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to introduce
yourself and say hello. I look forward to meeting you all and working in partnership with you to support
your childs continued success.

Poetry Competition Winners

This week the winners from our poetry performance competition went for a poetry workshop day at Kelsall
Primary School. Two children from each year group took part in three sessions; art, performance and
writing poerty sessions. The children worked fantastically and were a real credit to our school, making new
friendships and showing off their talents brilliantly. Thank you to all the teachers who planned such an
exciting day.

Garden party for a very special lady!

On Monday 18 July we will be having a garden party between 2- 4pm. The children will be
planning their own ways to say goodbye but this will be the wider school familys
opportunity to say farewell to Mrs Walters and wish her well after 10 inspirational years at
Mill View. Further details will follow but please try to keep this date free in your diary and
plan to come and join us. We will be asking for donations of delicious cakes to share with all
our visitors to be brought to school on that Monday morning.
