Greetings Ms. Nally,
Would you love to participate in an event that has
been helping communities with the cancer battle
for over 30 years?
I have a wonderful opportunity for your campus
service and engagement group to log the
community service hours they need for
graduation.
We are looking for teams of approximately 12-15
members and a captain for this years Relay for
Life event. The event will take place on
September 11th 2016 at 6:00 PM at Beal Park in
Maryville. It will conclude at 6:00 A.M on
September 12th.
The team captain will take the responsibility of
organizing fundraisers, complete the walking
schedule etc. Each team is highly encouraged to
have at least one team member walking at all
times during the event. In the past team members
would walk in groups of two for 30 minutes to 1
hour increments.
If you can find a local business to sponsor your
team, there would be no member entry fee. A
great selling point to pitch to local businesses is
that any sponsorship or donation is tax exempt.
Relay for Life is hosted by the American Cancer

Society which is a 501(c)3 organization. However,

if you are unable to locate a sponsor, each
member will have a $10-$15 entry fee which
includes a team t-shirt!
Our goal this year is to have involvement in over
600 campuses and raise $500,000 in donations.
Thats as little as $800 per campus and we would
love for you to be a part of it! There are some
amazing giveaways for the campus with the
highest participation such as an IPad air and a
Fitbit Charge HR! You dont want to miss your
opportunity to get in on the action!
Because the event starts just after the beginning
of next school year we need to secure your spot
by June 5th, 2016. This way you have the
maximum time to get your team together, start
fundraising and booking those community service
hours!
