What Were Learning

Math: Unit 1-This week will begin to conclude Unit 1. We will
review number order up to 120, identify a number 120 or less and tell
what numbers come before and after this chosen numeral, and
practice explaining our thought processes using knowledge of place
value.

Spelling Words: This week, we have challenge words. Your

child may practice these words if he/she is up for a challenge! These
words will count as one extra point per word towards the spelling
quiz grade.

Reading: I will be finishing my assessments of each childs

reading level this week. Next week we will be starting to learn
reading group routines and procedures. Your child will be coming
home with a Book Buddy bag in the next week or so that he/she is to
read from each night. This book should be on your childs
independent reading level (it should be easy for them to read in order
to build confidence and independence).

Science:

We will continue our unit on Light

and Shadows. We will distinguish between
artificial and man-made sources of light, discuss
what light is, and explain how shadows are
made.

Literacy Tip: After reading with your child, ask him or her to tell you what they thought of the book. Ask them to
explain why. Math Tip: Pick a number between 1 and 120. Have your child tell you the numbers before and after this
numeral.
