Swimming at Cobham Hall
The first Bronte swimming lessons at
Cobham Hall took place on Tuesday
afternoon, for Years 2 and 5. Apart from a
late return for Year 5 (for which apologies next weeks timings will be adjusted) all
went - sorry - swimmingly. The pool was
suitably warm and welcoming, and much
progress was made for both year groups.
Bronte Friends - Do come for drinks and
canapsand the AGM
Please put 7.00pm next Wednesday into
your diaries for the Bronte Friends AGM. As
a reminder, Bronte Friends is the social arm
of the School, with a variety of events being
organised across the school year.
Sometimes, as well as the aim of having a
fun time, there is a fundraising element too,
either for a charity or for a particular school
project which parents would like to
contribute to.
The chair of Bronte Friends is Mrs Shand
(mother of Brandon (Year 4) and Corey
(Year 2)). Last years secretary was Mrs Dio
(mother of Taran (Year 6). The Treasurer - of
long service to the Friends - was Mrs Egan,
former school secretary. Both are standing
down, and I would like to say how grateful
we have all been for their work. Current
committee members are Mrs Wood (Deputy
Head), Mrs Mason (Office Manager) and
Mrs Onochie-Oputa (mother of David (Year
3) and Matthew (Reception)). The
committee is chaired by me as Headmaster.
On Wednesday, we will enquire about a
secretary and treasurer and any new
committee members. However, fear ye not:
there will be no pressure or awkward
silences whilst we await volunteers! The
main aim is to meet together, review 2015 16 and look ahead to 2016 - 17. And also of
course, in the true spirit of Bronte Friends,
to have some wine, and catch-up..

Macmillan Cancer Support

Mrs Gordon and Mrs Dyson are both planning to
be present for both the morning coffee (9.00 10.00am) and the afternoon tea (2.30 - 3.30pm)
for the Macmillan Cancer Support day next
Friday, 30th September.
Do make or buy a cake for the day, perhaps
getting your son or daughter to bring it in on the
morning. The cakes will be sold during the day and they always go, either to parents or at the
childrens break!
Both parts are very relaxed and enjoyable - do try
to come to one or both.
Transition Meeting - for Bronte Nursery parents.
Come along as well for Kindergarten or
Reception 2017
Finally, next Saturday, 1st October (how can it be
October already?) sees the transition meeting for
parents of Bronte Nursery. Mrs Wood will be
talking about the transition process for the move
to start primary school, to help parents through
the whole process of choosing a school. Methods
of entry are covered for both state and
independent schools, as well as for Bronte of
course. There are tours of the School for any
family wishing to have a look around.
Any Bronte parent is welcome to come along of
course - you may have a younger child and are
looking at Kindergarten or Reception. And, if you
know someone from outside the School who
might like to come along too and have a look
around, do feel free to bring them or give them
details. To help planning, do if you can let Nicky
Mason know - e-mail or phone - if you think you
may be coming or know of someone else.
Otherwise just turn up. It starts at 10am and
should finish before 12 noon. And heres the best
bit: creche provided.

Year 1 Visit - Build A Bear
Year 1 had a wonderful trip to Build-a-Bear this
morning. They chose a dog bear with a Star Wars
outfit and he was democratically named Sam
Pokemon on returning to his new home at Bronte.
The children will take him home over a weekend in
turn, where they can fill out a diary page telling us of
his adventures.
