Book of the Week: Students are reading passages entitled Farming, Fire,
Tools, and LIfe, and Migration.
Writing: Students are choosing a draft to bring to publishing. We are
learning about the writing process.
Skills Practice: Students are working on identifying and using
independent and dependent clauses.

Social Studies

Students are learning about Early Americans. They should be able to


describe how and why early peoples moved from place to place.

Math

Please look for your childs graded Unit 1 Test in this weeks take-home
folder. We split into groups this week to do some reteaching and extra
practice of reading and writing decimal numbers. We then moved on to
review of addition and subtraction of whole numbers and decimals.

Science

We have been taking a closer look at the prairie ecosystem. Students have
learned about prescribed burning of grasslands to protect and preserve the
ecosystem.
