Language Arts

Math Expressions
During the next week we are going to continue on
with story problems. These are going to include
both Add To and Take From word problems. Next
week we are going to add in missing or extra
information to the word problems. In class we are
working on how to find what information is
relevant to the question, and to figure out what the
word problem is really asking. These can be really
tricky for kiddos! Thank you for your support at
home.
Dont forget, Math Homework goes home on
Tuesday, unless your child did not finish his/her
work during class.

Reading Days with Frog and Toad by Arnold

Lobel
Vocabulary and Comprehension test (From Days
with Frog and Toad) Friday
Spelling-Pattern changing y to i see back for
list of words.
Spelling Pre-test Wednesday- Your child must
be in attendance to do this test. We will not make
up practice tests. If your child receives 100%
he/she does not have to take final on Friday.
Spelling Final Test Friday
We are hoping to begin Flashlight Friday next
Friday. Please send in a flashlight with your child
if you havent done so.
Communication is very important to both of us. If
you need to set up a phone conference or in-person
conference to discuss any issues please let us
know. Its really hard to discuss issues when the
children arrive and the bell has rang.
Help us welcome a new friend to our classroom,
Rontez! We now have an even twenty friends in
our second grade classroom.

Social Studies
We have had some exciting visitors in second
grade to go along with our Social Studies unit of
community!
We have had Mr. Rask come in and talk about
how he runs an elementary building and next week
we have Mr. Cain, the PHASD Superintendent,
coming in to talk about how he runs a whole
district! We also have Port Huron Mayor Ms.
Rapp as well as a City Council member and
School Board member coming in to visit over the
next few weeks. Exciting news!

**If you have not done so already, please fill out

and turn in the volunteer forms ASAP. No adult
may help out in the classroom or building; attend
field trips, etc. without a volunteer form on file.
