Lesson Objectives (Explicit, observable):
By the end of the lesson students will be able to learn:
a) The fundamentals of sprinting:
i) Maintaining forward eye contact, not looking left and/or right while sprinting.
ii) Understanding the concept of swinging arms and lifting knees vigorously.
b) Understand and apply the motions and concepts of the running long jump:
i) Ensuring the leaping foot is not outside the jumping platform to keep a recordable score.
ii) Gathering steps before taking off from platform.
iii) Jumping with one foot and pushing off with same foot.
iv) Use a forward motion when in the air and landing.
v) Not stepping or making contact backwards with sand for proper measurements.
c) Understand and apply the motions and concepts of hurdling.
i) Maintain eye contact with hurdle.
ii) Jumping with a base foot and lifting lead foot over hurdle.
iii) Lead foot is positioned to the side of body while in leaping motion.
iv) Lean body forward during leap over hurdle.
d) Understand and apply the motions and concepts of shot-put.
i) Body weight is shifted from back foot to lead foot.
ii) Torso is rotated towards field for shot-put.
iii) Shot-put is placed behind ear with firm placement of shot-put in palm of hand.
iv) Once torso is rotated towards the open field, a push motion in executed with holding arm
to release the shop-put.
v) Ensuring to stay inside tossing ring and avoiding a scratch.

Students will be spread out across the field side by side executing dynamic stretches back and
forth.

Practice at home or recess. Find friends or a friend and have races and/or work on techniques.
The weather is nice out for track & field, so find friends to practice these skills and maybe
have a game too.
CLASS MANAGEMENT:

(Lesson Portion) Students will have some autonomy to move to different stations at their
own pace.

(Lesson portion) All equipment will be placed at its designated areas by instructor.

Practice baton exchanges with partners.
Feedback Statements: (specific positive and corrective)
(Positive): Good job pushing the shot-put and not throwing it.
(Corrective): Good job pushing the shot-put, but lets try to rotate our torso and shit our
body weight faster to increase the distance of the throw.
