Bladder Control - Oil Conservator

Over the last two months, MRT 4 had some reliability
issues resulting in two Potline three trips. The team analysed that the main contributing factor was with the oil
conservator (expansion tank), in particular the protective
bladder inside. This was believed to have collapsed and
blocked the conservator outlet pipe causing a protective
device to trip the Transformer and stop Potline 3.
The Bladder needed to be removed as soon as possible. The team members collaborated, a detailed execution schedule was developed, and all labour, tools and
equipment arranged. It was crucial to remove the bladder and fill the conservator with oil in one day, due to
the risks associated with the expansion and contraction
of transformer oil.

After a long day of various activities by the team (In conjunction with Transgrid, Boom, Wilson transformers, Instant Scaffold and the Central Workshop) the bladder
was successfully and safely removed. The Conservator
was refitted and oil filled. The transformer has been energised again and will be monitored for a period of time
before returning it to Potline duty. This was a complex
job which has never been attempted by the team before.
But with the HV Teams can do attitude, all the obstacles were overcome and the work successfully completed in the scheduled time.
A massive effort, well done to everyone involved!

Toiletries Drive, Helping Those in Need

When it comes to helping those in need, the people
here are Tomago are always willing to lend a hand.

Really great work and a big thank you to Anthony Cook

for all his hard work in making this happen.

Over the past few weeks we have had a collection box

located just outside the gates at Security. Our
generous employees have been filling this box
with toiletries to donate to the homeless. Its these
small things that make a big difference to those in
need, giving them a sense of worth and helping to
improve their quality of life.

Well done Cookie!

A really big thank you to everyone for their generous donations. The collection box had to be emptied a number of times.
A morning tea was held on Wednesday here on
site, as a thank you to everyone who helped out.
Our resident Dietician Anthony Cook and Marcus
Lennon are photographed with Wesley Mission
Staff Paul and Sue who were on hand to receive
the generous donation.

Its that time of year for a...Spring Clean!

A huge thank you to all those who participated in this years annual Spring Clean
across site, which focused on internal operational areas.
Despite the appalling weather on the day, good preplanning saw that everything went ahead smoothly and
safely.
A special thanks goes to those from our different support services across the site who rolled up their sleeves
and got dirty to help out in the operational areas a
great example of how we operate!!

A Thank you BBQ was held afterword to recognize everybodys efforts,. Well done everyone, its a great initiative to take pride in our workplaces.

A New System, Making Life Easier!

Tomago has just had our 4th Supplier move to a The Warehouse would like to recognise the great
work from Deborah Chen (IT) and our Suppliers .
Consolidated Shipping Notice system of inThis is a great achievement in making work more
voicing and delivering to our Warehouse.
With the new addition of Auslec in the last week, combined with the previous implementation of Lear & Smith,
Barden Clothing and Statewide Bearings, the Warehouse is now receipting over 50% of TAC order lines
with this method.

efficient.

Story Submitted by: Tom Miller

The standard method to receipt an order requires the

Warehouse to record each Delivery Docket number
against each TAC Purchase Order line. With the new
system the supplier sends a file to the TAC server which
is then converted into an Inbound Delivery document.
Once created the warehouse can receipt all Purchase
Lines delivered by scanning a barcode supplied with the
delivery, saving in excess of 75 delivery docket keying
entries per day.

The First Ones are In - 1600mm Slotted Anodes Trial

After extensive planning, coordination and hard work
from the Paste Plant, Bake Ovens, Rod Shop, Liquid
Metals and Engineering departments weve put the first
1600mm trial anodes into the trial pots!
These trial anodes were produced back in late August
with a temporary mould installed by Engineering allowing us to mould two small 200mm slots into them, before
being baked and sent offsite to Robert Guy & Sons to
have the moulded slots cut up to 400mm.
During this time, the Rod Shop were busily completing a
variety of upgrades to allow them to accept these bigger
anodes. Who knew 20mm could make such a difference?!
The real challenge came when Rod Shop began experiencing rodding issues last week, with rodded anode
stock levels at an all-time low, the rodding of trial anodes became a low priority. However, through the hard
work of the entire Rod Shop team, they were able to resume a comfortable enough position to start rodding the
trial anodes with only a week delay!
This meant Megan Scollay, Troy Gorton, Keith Wilson
and Joel Berry were able to successfully rod 33 x
1600mm trial anodes and deliver them to the Potlines
on Monday of this week, allowing the first anodes to be
put into their designated pots on Tuesday morning. Although theres plenty of work still to come over the next
few months, well done to everyone involved so far. Lets
keep it going!
