SECTION 1: Findings

Congress makes the following findings:

1)Taiwan and the United States have maintained a good relationship in trade
4
and have similar views in government (1)

2) The Republican parts says that Taiwan relations will be based on the Taiwan
6
Relations Act and support the Six Assurances made by Ronald Reagan. (1)

3) Currently the relationship between Taiwan and the United States is unofficial
8
and America doesnt support Taiwans independence from China. (2)

4) Taiwan is Americas ninth largest trading partner, and America is Taiwans
10
second largest. (2)

5.) In 2013 Taiwan improved more than 12,000 American workers and gave
12
them almost a billion dollars for their work. This shows how America and Taiwan
13
have a good relationship, helping each other's economy. (2)

15 SECTION 2: Purpose
16 The purpose of this bill is to ensure that in times of danger, the US will provide
17
whatever necessary to protect Taiwan from possible invasion from the Republic
18
of China.

21 SECTION 3: General Provisions
22 The United States will provide both economic and military assistance when Taiwan
23
needs it. Economic assistance will be for Taiwan to purchase weapons of
24
self-defense, assist the Taiwan national military, and providing for
25
representatives shall a treaty be needed. Military assistance will be provided if
26
China does attack. All together, the hope is to maintain positive relations
27
between China, Taiwan, and the United States.

1. Taiwan Relations Act- defined the non-diplomatic relationship between the

United States and Taiwan.

2. The Six Assurances- guidelines in the relationship between the people of

America and Taiwan.
