1. What requirements must you meet in order to study abroad? (i.e. GPA, etc.)
Cumulative GPA of 2.75 for semester or year-long programs
Cumulative GPA of 2.50 for summer programs
2. What are the three (3) different types of study abroad programs available to
students?
1. Exchange provides students an affordable way to participate in study abroad.
These programs utilize an established relationship between specific universities
that exchange students with each other with each student paying the tuition and
fees at their home university and not at the host university;
2. Direct Study Abroad program is administered by an organization offering study
abroad support services (i.e. School for International Training (SIT); American
Institute for Foreign Studies (AIFS); International Studies Abroad (ISA).
3. Faculty-Led - programs that are organized and/or accompanied by an NCAT
faculty member, usually during the summer.
3. What are the deadlines for applying for study abroad?
Spring: October 14
Summer: March 15
Fall: March 15
4. What are three different ways that you can raise money to fund your trip?
Financial aid, scholarships, and fellowships
5. Name two (2) scholarships that can fund you for your trip and how you meet the
requirements?
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
This program enables students who have limited financial means to participate in
study abroad opportunities worldwide. The programs provide awards of up to
$5,000 for U.S. citizen undergraduate students. To be eligible students must be
receiving a Federal Pell Grant.

The Critical Language Scholarship Program


Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) institutes provide fully-funded group-based
intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences for
seven to ten weeks for U.S. citizen under-graduate, Masters and Ph.D. students.
6. Where would you like to travel to for your study abroad experience and why?
I would love to travel to Jamaica. I have always wanted to go there and I feel it will
be an enlightening experience for me.
7. Does A&T offer this as an option? If not, then what would be your second choice
destination?
A&T does offer this option! I am planning on participating summer 17.
