Gonna admit, this is kind of exciting.

3 BEN:

A few hours ago you said this was crazy.

4 DOUGLAS:

The best ideas are spawned from crazy.

PANEL 3: A view from the front as they continue their pace.

5 DOUGLAS:

Not every day I get called in for an

assignment like this. I thought you guys were
pulling my leg when you handed me the files.

6 BEN:

I trust youve kept yourself updated?

7 DOUGLAS:

Had to catch myself a few times. I felt like I

was reading the plot for a bad movie. The
group name didnt help.

PANEL 4: Ben looking at Douglas with an eyebrow raised. He raises his

arms up slightly to help present his point to Ben.
8 BEN:

Whats wrong with Patriot Force?

9 DOUGLAS:

I didnt know if I was going to be working with

another S.O.G. or new band when I read the

name. Which one of the suits came up with

that?
10 BEN:

You know, Mr. Victors, I could just send you

back to Nam.

11 DOUGLAS:

Hey if this keeps me out of the jungle then Ill

crap lightning if I have to.

PANEL 5: Ben ahead of Douglas and beckoning him towards the double
doors leading outside. A smile fixed on his face.
12 BEN:

Well Ill let you know why I chose the name.

TWO
PANEL 1: A shot of a Huey Helicopter flying above the streets of
Washington DC.

PANEL 2: Joe Washington inside of a Huey Helicopter. Hes seated down

holding an open folder in his hand, his head isnt visible on panel.
1 JOE (THOUGHTS):

Name doesnt sound that bad, lets see who

they got for me.

PANEL 3: A shot of Douglas Victor decked out in full uniform with an M16
hanging by his side. His face adorned with paint, messy hair and bandana

PANEL 2: A shot of Travis Raptor looking at the viewer with his arms

2 JOE (THOUGHTS):

PANEL 3: A shot of Steel Might, in full armor, standing in the middle of a

firing range. Both arms raised revealing the chainguns built into his
forearms.
3 JOE (THOUGHTS):

Barney Hansen
53-years-old
Mech operator injured during MeKorean War
and placed in iron lung. Accepted chance to be
part of experiment to place brain in a robot
body.

Access to a multitude of weaponry both

internal and external.
Okay, I think Ive read enough.

PANEL 4: A behind view of the cockpit. The pilot looking over his shoulder
at Joe to issue the news.
4 PILOT:

Sir, were about to set down. Start getting

ready.

5 JOE (OFF-PANEL):

Roger that.

FOUR
PANEL 1: Were back outside with Douglas and Ben looking up at Joes
helicopter descending. The angle is positioned behind them with Douglas
hand raised up to keep the sun out of his eyes, the helicopter is also in view.
1 DOUGLAS:

Anything I should know before he steps out?

Ive heard some rumors about Joe.

2 BEN:

Let me guess, the whole shot a guy for

bleeding commie colors thing?

3 DOUGLAS:

You wanna shed some light on that?

4 BEN:

Its not true. That never happened during his

training exercises. Anything else?

PANEL 2: Side-view of the two, their upper bodies are the only thing in
panel. Douglas looking over at Ben who still keeps his eyes up to the
helicopter.
5 DOUGLAS:

Yeah, why did you guys do it?

6 BEN:

Do what?

7 DOUGLAS:

Make him. I mean wha-

PANEL 3: From the front now with Ben returning the glance to Douglas.
8 BEN:

Victors, I could give you every possible reason

why we did it. I could tell you all the statistical
crap the scientists churned up. I could tell you
about how it would improve morale. Hell I
could even tell you why we made him LOOK
the way he does. But Ill give you the short
version.

PANEL 4: Bens face in the panel with a sly smile as he delivers the words.
9 BEN:

We did it because we could and we did.

PANEL 5: Behind the duo and the helicopter has set down before them.
Douglas hand is lowered down and Bens hands are folded behind his back.
10 BEN:

And according to his combat record so far. Do

you really want to argue with results? Any
other questions youve got-

FIVE
PANEL 1: Joe Washington now fully revealed to the reader. Hes standing
outside of the open door of the Huey, tall and heroic in his demeanor.

Ben!

PANEL 2: A sideview of Joe approaching the duo with Ben stepping forward
while Douglas hangs back. Joe is shaking Bens hand.
2 BEN:

Joe! Great to see you! How are ya?

3 JOE:

Better now that Im back on the homefront.

Glad to see Washington is still as bright as I
remember.

4 BEN:

Only on the outside, Joe, you know how the

politicians are.

PANEL 3: Joe and Ben walking side by side. Joe is looking up at the base
while Douglas is in their way saluting. You can see the size comparison here
of Joe. Ben is 5ft while Joe is 7ft.
5 JOE:

So this is the Patriot Force thing? Its actually

a lot-

6 DOUGLAS:

Sir!

PANEL 4: Douglas saluting in front of Joe, hes switched to a more hardened

expression. Hes basically switched into soldier-mode with his new CO
before him.
7 DOUGLAS:

Staff Sergeant Douglas Victors! Reporting for

duty!

8 JOE:

Oh! So youre Douglas Victors? You actually

were the first one I read about in the files.

9 DOUGLAS:

I hope my skills impressed you, Sir!

PANEL 5: Joe has a hand placed on Douglas shoulder while Ben watches
with a smile.
10 JOE:

Of course they did, Douglas, youre a born

American so nothing less of kick-ass was
expected. You can stop calling me sir too,
were not in the field yet.

11 DOUGLAS:

Noted, Joe.

SIX
PANEL 1: An overhead shot of the trio walking towards the double doors.
1 JOE:

Well lets get moving. I want to see the rest of

this base! I didnt think wed be getting
something this big! Ben, youve gotta tell me
about everything here!

2 BEN:

Dont get too happy about it yet, Joe. Theres

still some areas under construction and a tour
isnt first on the list.

PANEL 2: The trio now walking down the hallway. Joe in the middle,
Douglas on left and Ben on right.
3 JOE:

Then what is?

4 BEN:

Meeting your team.

5 JOE:

Theyre already here? Where are they?

6 BEN:

Ive got them in a meeting room awaiting

your arrival. Figured the best thing was to let
them get acquainted with eachother.

PANEL 3: Coffee being poured into a mug on a table. Travis scaly hand is
holding it.

PANEL 4: Travis is holding up the coffee pot in his left hand while the mug
is still in his right. The rest of the team are watching him from the table.
Joshua and Barney on the left and Abigail on the right. Theyre seated at a

7 TRAVIS:

Last call for coffee!

SEVEN
PANEL 1: Same as last panel but now Abigail opens her mouth to speak
while Travis lowers down the coffee pot. Hes looking into the mug with a
small look of distaste.
1 ABIGAIL:

Im still trying to get over the whole dinosaur

in the room thing.

2 TRAVIS:

Ignoring that. I cant blame you guys, the

coffee here is kind of crap anyway.

PANEL 2: A shot from behind Travis, his mouth is open shouting as Abigail
points at him.
3 ABIGAIL:

Im not going to ignore that theres a damn

dinosaur in the room!

4 TRAVIS:

Weve been here for an hour! I even

pointed that your top does not go with those
shoes! I did you a favor!

5 ABIGAIL:

What do you even know about fashion?! Do

you even wear shoes?!

6 TRAVIS:

Ill have you know that Im a size 13 thank

you! Compared to yours thats a blessing!

PANEL 3: Barney (left) and Joshua (right) seated next to eachother. Joshua
looking over at the robot trying to avert gaze from the argument still taking
place.
7 JOSHUA:

Soyour name is Barney right? You served in

Mekorean War huh? How did you end up like
that?

8 BARNEY:

Son, if you had to choose between a new body

or being stuck in a mechanical gizmo all your
life. Which would you choose?

9 ABIGAIL (OFF-PANEL):

I know I seriously did not get called bigfoot by

the thing with toenails longer than my arm!

10 TRAVIS (OFF-PANEL):

Theyre called toe-claws! Theres a difference!

Speaking of which you ever had a manicure?
They would do wonders for those nails of
yours. They wouldnt look like a damn edged
knife if you took care of them!

PANEL 4: Same position as before but now the duo are looking at the
viewer shocked as magical beam shoots past them.
11 ABIGAIL (OFF-PANEL):

You son of a-

12 TRAVIS (OFF-PANEL):

Ow! What was that?!

13 ABIGAIL (OFF-PANEL):

Something to remind you to keep your mouth

shut!

14 TRAVIS (OFF-PANEL):

YOU BURNED MY TAIL TIP!

PANEL 5: Same position as last now with Joshua standing with his hands
glowing.
15 JOSHUA:

Yeah I think its time to step in.

16 BARNEY:

Hurry before the raptor mauls her.

EIGHT
PANEL 1: Back to Joe, Ben and Douglas walking down the hall. Two armed
guards pass by them holding M16s, theres two men in suits there as well
with one holding a folder to the other.
1 JOE:

Ben, where did you find all these guys?

Douglas and Joshua, youve got military intel
for that. But the other three?

2 BEN:

Theres been a lot of strange things going in

the recent years, Joe. Things being dumped on
us that the public expects us to fix in hours.

3 JOE:

Was this why the Meta-Human Platoon was put

together for Nam?

4 BEN:

One of the reasons.

PANEL 2: The trio standing in front of the door leading into the meeting
room. Ben has his hand on the knob looking back at the two.
5 BEN:

Maybe its best you hear it from their mouths.

Joe, I present to you-

6 SFX:

KRRRRRRSSSSSSHHHHHH

7 SFX:

SRUUUURREEEEHHHHHH

8 DOUGLAS:

The hell was that?

PANEL 3: Ben (holding the door open), Joe and Douglas are standing in the
doorway staring at the scene before them. Joshua is standing in between
Travis and Abigail. His arms are up and the two have energy bubbles
projected around them, Abigail has her arms crossed while Travis teeth are
bared.
9 JOSHUA:

Hey Joe

10 JOE:

Hey Josh

PANEL 4: Joshua looking at Abigail, her eyes narrowed as Travis crosses his
arms.
11 JOSHUA:

You two ready to kiss and make up?

NINE
PANEL 1: Split panel, Abigail looking aggravated and annoyed.

PANEL 2: Split panel, Travis with his arms crossed and teeth bared slightly.

PANEL 3: Joshua lowering his arms and the bubbles fade-away in response.
1 JOSHUA:

Ehhh close enough.

PANEL 4: Abigail, Travis, and Douglas are moving to take a seat at the
table. Joshua is holding his hand out to Joe as he approaches with Ben at his
side.
2 JOSHUA:

Joe, buddy, its been a-

3 BEN:

Sorry, Mcgee, but were going to get right

down to business. You can have a chat with
Joe after.

4 JOE:

Sorry, Josh.

TEN
PANEL 1: Joe (left) and Ben (right) standing before the rest of the group.
The back of their heads are seen as all eyes are on their superiors.
1 BEN:

Im Agent Ben Weaver and Ill be the overseer

of this team. Im sure youre all familiar with
Joe Washington. Im also quite sure you all
know why youre here.

PANEL 2: Travis mouth is open and hand going in the air. Ben is pointing at
him.
2 TRAVIS:

Well-

3 BEN:

Dont answer it.

PANEL 3: A side shot of Ben with Joe next to him.

4 BEN:

You all were gathered here due to exhibiting

special skills or talents in your respective
fields. Said talents may have stronger than
others or those of which we seek to
understand more.

PANEL 4: A shot of Joshuas hand raised with Ben and Joe looking towards
it.
5 JOSHUA:

So is this just Meta-Platoon again?

PANEL 5: Joe looking at Ben with a slightly uncomfortable look. Ben returns
the look.

ELEVEN
PANEL 1: A side view with the group seated on the left and Ben on the
right.
1 BEN:

Joshua, I can assure you that this will not be

like the Meta-Platoon.

2 JOSHUA:

How?

PANEL 2: The group at the table are the only ones in the panel looking
straight towards the reader.
3 BEN (OFF-PANEL):

Patriot Force is a first response against threats

that are meta-human or extraordinary in
origin. Youre expected to be combat efficient,
and also, to make public appearances, so as to
help improve morale amongst Americans.

PANEL 3: Same as last panel but now Abigail is speaking up. She has a
disgruntled look on her face.
4 ABIGAIL:

If this is meant to be some defense force then

why are Joshua and I the only ones with
powers here?

5 BEN (OFF-PANEL):

The team will grow in time. Consider

yourselves to be the stepping stone.

6 ABIGAIL:

Well why not recruit them in now? For a new

defense force you guys didnt really up the
ante in terms of power. The only other special
things here are the raptor and robot.

PANEL 4: Joe speaking with his gaze averted towards Ben.

7 JOE:

Well I did give them two other candidates to

call. A speedster and electricity manipulator.
Ben, where are they?

8 BEN:

They rejected the offer, Joe, thats all there is.

Now everyone up, weve got training to do.

9 TRAVIS (OFF-PANEL):

Training?

TWELVE
PANEL 1: An outside shot of the base. Centering in on field training course
where the group is positioned. Theyre standing before a large field with
several targets set up, a few soldiers are standing behind them holding
M16s. Ben is standing in front of Patriot Force.
1 BEN:

Patriot Force, welcome to your first training

session.

2 ABIGAIL:

Why do we need to go through this? I already

have a good grasp of my magic.

3 BEN:

Think of this more as a demonstration, Ms.

Shelton. Were interested in seeing how your
respective abilities work. Im sure you werent
showing the full extent during your Vegas
shows.

PANEL 2: Abigail holding up her hand with fire emitting from her fingertips.
A smile on her face as she gazes at it.
4 ABIGAIL:

Ill admit Ive got a few spells Ive been dying

to try out.

5 BEN (OFF-PANEL):

Then you just volunteered to be first.

PANEL 3: Joe and Joshua with their backs to the readers watching Liberty
walk up to an improv firing booth setup.
6 JOSHUA:

You believe any of that magic stuff?

7 JOE:

I think shes just a meta saying her powers are

magic.

PANEL 4: Abigail in the firing booth with Ben. Theres a soldier standing
nearby holding a 16mm Bolex Camera. Camera ref:

8 BEN:

Private, are you ready?

9 PRIVATE:

Yes sir.

10 BEN:

Ms. Shelton, are you?

11 ABIGAIL:

Youre lucky Im not camera shy.

THIRTEEN
PANEL 1: From behind Ben and Abigail. Ben points into the field before
them where there are 4 mannequins spread far apart from eachother.
1 BEN:

Four targets. I want you to hit each one with a

different version of your powers-

2 ABIGAIL:

Spells.

3 BEN:

Yes spells. We will be filming the results for archiving

purposes.

PANEL 2: Abigail has her hands raised up to her face, theyre in flames now
and her eyes are glowing. Ben is standing back with the soldier who keeps
the camera focused on her.
4 ABIGAIL:

You might want to stand back.

5 BEN:

Private, are you filming?

6 PRIVATE:

You didnt have to tell me twice, sir.

PANEL 3: She holds her hands out and fireballs spew from her palms, they
explode around the mannequin. The angle is from behind.
7 ABIGAIL:

Ill start you off with some fire to gain interest!

PANEL 4: From behind a mannequin as its encased in ice. Abigail is seen in

the background with a trail of ice emitting from her palms, Ben and the
private still looking on.
8 ABIGAIL:

Some ice to cool it down!

9 BEN:

We can do without the puns.

PANEL 5: All four mannequins are now levitating off the ground with a
green aura around them. The back of Abigail, Ben and the private in view as
she holds out a hand conducting the spell.
10 ABIGAIL:

And levitation for the finale.

PANEL 6: Joe and Joshua standing side by side. The eagles arms are
crossed with an unimpressed look on his face while Joshuas eyes are
widened.
11 JOSHUA:

Damn

12 JOE:

I still think its all meta abilities.

13 BEN (OFF-PANEL): Mr. Mcgee! Youre next!

FOURTEEN
PANEL 1: Joshua is standing in the middle of the field next to one of the
burned mannequins. Hes looking over at it somewhat uneasy about his
demonstration.
1 JOSHUA:

Okay I have two things to ask.

2 BEN (OFF-PANEL):

Go ahead, Mr. Mcgee

3 JOSHUA:

First, why does she get target practice while Im the

target here? And second-

PANEL 2: In the booth Ben is standing next to Travis who is holding one of
his latest inventions. Its a laser rifle with a chord connected to a small
blocky backpack mounted on the raptor. Ben is holding his hand towards
Travis in a take a look at it gesture while the raptor gives a toothy smile.
4 JOSHUA (OFF-PANEL):
5 BEN:

Travis improvement of the current laser design used

by the US Military. Hes taken the liberty of field
testing this new prototype today, it has a smaller
battery pack compared to the current version. And-

5 JOSHUA (OFF-PANEL):
6 BEN:

-what is the raptor holding?

Its untested?

At least until today. Decided to kill two birds with

one stone. Test out your powers and test out the
prototype.

PANEL 3: Joshua still with a concerned looking as he places one hand on his
head and holds the other up.
7 JOSHUA:

Cant you use a rifle instead? I dont have much

experience against power weapons.

PANEL 4: Travis pointing the rifle towards Joshua with its side glowing as it
charges. He looks alarmed by this quick move into the testing.
SFX:

VRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

8 TRAVIS:

Dont whine so much, Joshua, I promise I wont aim

for face.

FIFTEEN
PANEL 1: Joshuas shield forms a dome around him as the laser strikes. It
splits streaking over the sides. His hands are held up with his palms glowing
keeping the shields power up.

PANEL 2: Back to the booth with Travis and Ben. The raptors claws on the
side of the gun while Ben watches on while rubbing his chin.
9 TRAVIS:

Ive got the gun on fifty percent. Im increasing

power.

10 BEN:

Keep it at a steady rate. Remember this only a test.

PANEL 3: The dial on the side of the gun with Travis claw turning it. Theres
a color change from green to yellow, to red with the dial being cranked into

11 TRAVIS:

Increasing to 80 percent

Panel 4: A stronger beam emitting from the gun as it impacts Joshuas

shield. Travis keeps it concentrated on his poor target as Joshuas continues
to hold out.
12 JOSHUA:

What the hell do you mean increasing to 80

percent?

13 TRAVIS:

Oh shut it, pretty boy. You spent three years in the

bush and you cant take a hit from a simple laser
rifle?

14 JOSHUA:

I swear to God, when this is over Im kicking your

scaly ass back to the Jurassic age!

15 TRAVIS:

First, its the Jurassic period. Second, Im from the

late Cretaceous. And thirdly increasing to 90 percent

PANEL 5: Travis holding the rifle as steam pours out the venting ports on
the side. The tip is red hot and the raptor looks at it surprised. Ben is
standing nearby looking at the malfunctioning rifle.
SFX: VRRRRRRMMMMMM
16 TRAVIS:

Looks like its your lucky day, Pretty boy, gun

just overheated.

17 BEN:

Well Mr. Mcgee-

SIXTEEN
PANEL 1: A full page of Joshua standing in the field with scorched grass all
around him. Theres a small fire brewing on one of the patches next to him,
his arms are lowered and the dissipating glow on them fading off. He looks
tired with his posture off as he tries to gain back his strength.
1 BEN (OFF-PANEL):

Looks like your training time is over.

2 JOSHUA:

Glad to hear it.

SEVENTEEN
PANEL 1: A pickup truck in the middle of the field. The blue sky over it and
green grass underneath, looks like the scene out of a commercial almost.

PANEL 2: The imagery is wrecked as the pickup is blown up.

1 BARNEY (OFF-PANEL):

Target destroyed.

PANEL 3: Ben holding his hand up to Steel Might next to him. The robot has
an M2-looking Bazooka situated on his shoulder with smoke emitting from
the barrel (artist will need to refer to design). Ben is speaking to the other
members of Patriot Force (off-panel) as he presents the last and biggest part
of their team.
2 BEN:

Let me introduce you all to the STEEL-MIGHT

armor! Barney has been outfitted with this suit
to provide heavy support in the field.
