Bella Brazier

Bella is a delightful young lady who is extremely conscientious and always looks
out for everyone, adults and peers alike. She has a fantastic imagination and
consistently applies herself fully to her work. Regularly Bella is completely
absorbed in her work, however, on rare occasions she does become slightly
talkative therefore managing those distractions will only mean Bella excels
even further! Her curiosity and enthusiasm to share her new discoveries (the
most varied show and tells throughout the year of anyone!) is an inspiration and
she loves to question and challenge herself to improve. Bella is a natural
mathematician, and clearly enjoys her work on reflection of her feedback
comments in her book. She fully applies herself to new units and concepts in
Maths, further building on the strong foundation of her understanding. In Literacy
Bella also applies her enthusiasm and creativity to create mature, well structure
stories, letters and non-fiction pieces. In all other subjects Bella applies herself
well, and is always successful as a result. Socially Bella has a lovely, supportive
group of friends and is well liked by all members of the class. Further than this
Bella is always enthusiastic to help me in class, and Im extremely grateful to her
for that. I have no doubt that Bella will go from strength to strength! It has been
an absolute pleasure to have Bella in my class, and I wish her all the best as she
travels on up to Year 6!

Maison Brown
Maison has been an absolute star for the duration of this year. His self-sacrifice
and willingness to help and support all members of the school community has
astonished me. Throughout the year many staff, including the members of staff
at the centre we visited in Dorset, have approached me with glowing references
of Maison something that makes me feel extremely proud! Although there have
been a small number of blips throughout the year, Maison has clearly matured
since his transition from Year 4, and is more consistently taking on responsibility
for his actions. Throughout the year I have been asking Maison to come inside to
seek help and advice if his mood is changing on the playground, and he has
responded well to this something that he can further develop as he moves into
Year 6. In class, although sometimes distracted by friends, Maison often fully
applies himself to his work most notably Maths. Maison has worked hard to
build a secure understanding of the range of topics and concepts, and this has
reflected well in tests throughout the term. Maison finds Literacy more
challenging, and is more prone to lose his otherwise brilliant absorption in his
work, but he has a fantastic and creative mind which he must apply to fulfil his
potential in this subject. It has been an honour to get to know Maison throughout
the year, and I sincerely hope his fantastic progression continues throughout Year
6 and into the rest of education. Thank you Maison, and good luck!
Asher Byrne

Asher has been a pleasure to teach for the duration of this year. His eagerness to
learn is infectious and his kind heart and conscientious nature means that he is
well liked and respected across the whole year. His positive outlook and
enthusiasm to share his curiosities always makes me smile, and his sense of
humour is fantastic! Although sometimes Asher can be distracted by friends in
class, on the whole he is regularly absorbed in his work and is consistently proud
of his achievements. To make sure he continues to progress next year, Asher
should think about managing his distractions to improve his independence in
lessons. In Maths Asher is confident in a variety of units and is always ready to
ask for advice when he needs it. Further to this, Asher actively supports and
encourages members of the class who are struggling, showing a maturity that
has developed throughout this year. In Literacy, Asher perseveres to put taught
ideas into practice in his work. To continue his progression in literacy he should
strive to include a range of punctuation in his work. His presentation is always
impeccable and Asher takes time to edit and improve his work when appropriate.
Socially, Asher has a great group of friends and isnt afraid to stand up for what
is right. It has been great fun getting to know Asher for this year, and he has
been an asset to 5C. I wish him all the best as he moves into Year 6 and beyond!
Well done, Asher!
Isaac Canham
Isaac has been a fantastic member of 5C this year and I have really enjoyed
getting to know him! At the start of the year I was blown away by Isaacs ability
to reflect on what we have been learning on in class and encourage others to rise
to the challenge. Isaacs curiosity is never-ending and although his overenthusiasm can have him distracting others, he knows when to become
absorbed in his learning. More recently Isaac has needed to manage his
distractions more carefully, but does so with some gentle reminders. In Literacy,
Isaac always knows how to create effective writing by including the features that
weve been working on in class but sometimes it takes Isaac a while to really
focus on his own writing. In Maths, Isaac quickly grasps a strong understanding
of new topics and readily challenges himself with hard work to deepen his
understanding further. More than this, Isaac is quick to help and support other
members of the class and often Isaac collaborates extremely well with other
people. Sports are clearly a large passion of Isaacs and I have enjoyed hearing
of his success outside of school, something that Im sure will continue as he
moves up through his education! As I have said, it has been a pleasure having
Isaac in my class this year, and I wish him the best of luck as he goes up to Year
6! Well done Isaac!
Olivia Cholerton
I have been so impressed and proud at how far Olivia has come throughout this
year. Her determination and perseverance to tackle any challenge has been
incredible. From over-coming her anxieties of Dorset, and instead having a
fantastic time, to becoming more and more resilient day to day. Not only has her
temperament hugely improved, but as a result of this Olivias absorption in work

has flown up! In Maths, Olivia has developed her confidence in her own
understanding and regularly challenges herself to progress her learning even
further. Her hard work and brilliant work ethic has resulted in exceptionally high
Maths scores in her end of year tests. In Literacy, Olivias love of books,
especially the Percy Jackson series, has fuelled an enthusiastic creativity, which
overflows into her work. Olivia always strives to include the complex features of
language that we have studied in class into her writing. At the start of the year
Olivia may have sought my advice when becoming stuck with next steps in her
writing, however in the second half of this year with her building confidence
Olivia is readily edits and improves her work independently. Olivia has been a
delight to have in the class, and I have enjoyed getting to know her and seeing
her grow so much throughout the year. Thank you for working so hard Olivia,
youll keep getting better and better as you go! Good luck with next year!
Finn Copp
Finn is a true gentleman and has been a delight to have all year. I have really
enjoyed getting to know Finn and hes made my smile each day with his cheeky
sense of humour. Ive also seen huge progress in his attitude to learning, and his
recent change in absorption in Maths and Literacy have been unbelievable! Ive
been truly impressed at Finns focus in challenging calculation and his recent
story write in Literacy. One thing that I have noticed through the course of the
end of term tests has been Finns time management in exam conditions often
Finn either runs out of time, or doesnt return to the tests to carefully check his
answers. Improving that focus on editing work would only make Finn more and
more successful! In Maths, Finn works hard to build understanding about
particular concepts and although sometimes slow he is regularly successful.
Finn sometimes struggles with moving between concepts, and remembering a
range of methods however with practice he will become much more fluent! In
Literacy, Finn is sometimes distracted by friends before becoming absorbed, but
he does inject his brilliant sense of humour into his writing! His target moving
forward would be to continue reading back through his work to edit and improve
his writing. Finn is extremely kind hearted and always looks out for other people
in the class and year group. It has been my pleasure to teach him this year and a
wish him all the best as he goes up to Year 6 well done Finn!
Declan Cronin
Throughout the year Declan has been one of the stars of the classroom. His
sense of humour and character have been a huge part of 5C year, and he has
consistently impressed me throughout the year. Sometimes Declan is something
of a distraction to his friends, but with careful reminders Declan is quick to reevaluate his priorities! In Maths, Declan is always absorbed in his work, and his
careful, logical process to approaching calculations means he is very successful
and continually challenges himself. In Literacy, Declan uses his fantastic
creativity and wry sense of humour to create interesting and unique pieces of
work. Im always blown away by how focused Declan can be, and in a recent
independent write of an adventure story Declan was finishing off his 3 rd page by

the time others were on their first! Declan should, however, continue to read
through and edit his work, as regularly I remind him to check punctuation and
capital letters. This may also be a target in Maths, Declan should ensure that he
is reading questions and calculations carefully to ensure he is accurate with his
answers. Socially Declan has never had a problem outside of the classroom, and
he works extremely well with all the members of the class. It has been an honour
to be Declans teacher this year, and I have seen him come from strength to
strength throughout year 5. I wish him all the best as he moves on up to year 6.
Thank you Declan, and good luck!
David Daruval
David has come from strength to strength this year in terms of his presentation
and attitude to his learning. I know David has significant barriers, however he
has been hard working throughout the year. David gets on well with his group of
friends and, although he enjoys his time outside, David still needs to work on the
balance of keeping his focus on his work than talking with friends. In Literacy,
David has fantastic ideas and hes often enthusiastic to get them down onto
paper, however, he tends to rush this step and although his creative ideas are on
the paper, the quality of the structure in his writing isnt always consistent. By
paying particular attention to reading back his work and editing as he goes,
something he certainly has improved on this year, he will build on his writing
ability. In Maths, David often grasps ideas and concepts very quickly, and can
imitate written calculations accurately. David must continue to appropriately
challenge himself as sometimes he attempts the most complex problems before
building up his understanding. Further, in tests David tends to rush questions
before taking the time to fully understand the calculations. Slowing down in
these instances, as well as all-round in Maths, and carefully checking through his
answers if time allows will help David improve in the future. It has been a
pleasure working with David, and getting to know him over the past year and I
wish him all the best as he moves up to Year 6! Thank you David!
Betty Davies
I have seen such a fantastic and positive change in Betty throughout this year.
Where once she may have not been confident, I have seen Betty grow and grow
throughout the year getting involved with dance clubs and the school play, to
how shed contribute in class discussions or reading her work. It has been a
pleasure to get to know Betty throughout this year, and seeing her fantastic
sense of humour when she is confident in class with her friends. In Literacy,
Betty has a fantastic way with words and always imitates features taught in class
in her work. One thing that Betty does need to keep in mind as she reads back
through her work to edit it are capital letters and effective punctuation.
Sometimes these elements are missing, however upon reading back through her
work these edits can be quickly applied. In Maths, Bettys confidence at the start
of the year was quite low, however since moving Betty to sit with peers who are
like-minded she has dramatically improved her confidence and ability. I felt
especially proud of Betty when she took it upon herself to talk through and

explain elements of calculations to people around her who didnt grasp it fully. It
is lovely to see Betty enjoying her time in school both in the classroom and on
the playgrounds with a lovely group of friends. She has been a pleasure to teach
all year, and I wish her all the best as she moves on to her next year at St Marys
School! Thank you Betty and well done!
Hattie Erwood
Hattie has been an absolute delight to teach through this year, I really dont have
a bad word to say about her! Hattie is a huge quirky character to have in class,
always positive and ready to work hard, whatever she is doing. She is well liked
by all members of the class and year group and always acts with kindness to
everyone she meets. Across all subjects Hattie is absorbed in her work and
always tries her best. In Literacy, although slow to start, Hattie has fantastic
ideas and her gift with words and the features of effective writing are always
present. Hattie should continue to take a risk when starting a written piece of
work, confident that she can readily edit and improve it aftwards. In Maths,
Hatties work ethic continues, and she always challenges herself in class. She is
logical and methodical when approaching problems and is consistently
successful. Socially, Hattie is always enjoying her time on the playground and
spends time with a variety of close friends, from across the year groups, with
whom she has built strong relationships throughout her time at St Marys. Im
really encouraged by how much support Hattie receives outside of school to
peruse other incredible experiences, and due to her great work ethic she never
falls behind academically. It has been a delight to get to know Hattie throughout
this year, and I know shell only go from strength to strength throughout her
education! Good luck Hattie, and well done!
Jonathan Fuller
Johnny has a fantastic character and an imagination that would best anyone else
in the class! He has a very unique way of seeing the world, and often makes link
that I myself would have missed! However, his brilliant sense of humour does
sometimes leads him astray, and Johnny is easily distracted and unfortunately
often distracts others. Johnny must learn to manage his distractions to ensure
that he gets the most about each and every lesson! In Literacy, Johnny uses his
imagination to his advantage and is skilled at including effective features in his
writing. Johnny has worked hard on his handwriting this term, and has shown
progress but continuing this focus so that he is practicing perfecting his
handwriting is still extremely important. In Maths, Johnny continually challenges
his understanding, and has made good progress this year. In some areas Johnny
looses confidence in himself, however I encourage him to continue to work
independently as he has a sound understanding. In other subjects, Johnny shows
a sound understanding but working on his absorption in class will only benefit
him more and more throughout his education. Socially, Johnny gets on really well
with pupils in his class and across the year group. Johnny has been a pleasure to
work with and get to know this year and I wish him the best of luck as he
moves up next year! Well done Johnny!

Louisa Gautrey
To say Louisa is something of a character is, of course, an understatement! It has
been an absolute pleasure to be Louisas teacher this year, and I have really
enjoyed getting to know her. Always ready to share a smile, Louisa is well liked
by her peers in the class and year group and enjoys her time in school. In Maths,
Louisa always challenges her self to build on her understanding. Sometimes the
challenge she sets her self is slightly too hard and becomes stuck so, on some
occasions, Ive asked her to slow down and build a secure understanding before
moving on to far. Practicing a range of calculations will ensure that Louisa builds
on her fluency in Maths, and can apply learnt methods to a range of situations. In
Literacy, Louisa works hard, however she can sometimes miss the key features
of effective writing due to her enthusiasm leading her off on a tangent. Louisa
must remember to read through her work and practice the skill of editing and
improving to ensure she meets her potential. I have also noticed that the
presentation of her work has slipped towards the end of the year, once reminded
Louisa does strive to change this but it should be a target for Louisa to keep in
mind as she moves forward. As I have said, 5C wouldnt have been the same
without Louisa, and Im honoured to have been her teacher this year. I wish her
all the best as she moves onto Year 6 Ill be keeping an eye on her as she goes!
Well done Louisa!
Rosa Grayling
It has been a real pleasure to see Rosa build her confidence throughout this year.
Across all subjects Rosa is approaching challenges positively and is always
absorbed in her learning. Rosa is extremely conscientious and regularly wants to
share her experiences with her peers and teachers. In Maths, Rosa quickly grasps
new concepts in lessons, and applies them well. However, when challenged Rosa
sometimes finds it hard to think logically about a range of calculations. Often
Rosa seeks advice to build on her understanding, which is excellent practice,
rather than to feel stuck and not able to complete her calculations. To keep her
progression in Maths, Rosa should continue to practice a range of calculations to
ensure she builds on the fluency in her calculation. In Literacy, Rosa is always
absorbed in her writing and strives to edit and improve her work to make it more
effective. Through using her fantastic imagination, and integrating the effective
features of writing, Rosa constructs confident and skilled written work. Across all
other subjects, Rosa has a fantastic attitude to learning and will always work
hard to display her best. Socially, Rosa thrives in her group of friends, and I
always see her happily playing with friends outside of class. It has been my
honour to be Rosas teacher this year and I wish her all the best as she moves on
to Year 6! Well done, Rosa!
Brooke Hamer
Although Brooke joined our class half way through the year, she has quickly built
strong relationships with many people in the year group. She has settled so well,
its as if she was here from the start! Brooke has a brilliant sense of humour and
often had me laughing! In Literacy, Brookes ability to include effective features

of writing has built throughout the year, and clearly enjoys creating stories and
other projects as long as they include dolphins! In Maths it has been clear that
there were some gaps in her understanding of using written methods from her
last school. She has worked really hard to plug these gaps, and is working with
more fluency in a range of different topics. To keep progressing in Maths, Brooke
must continue practicing the written methods to ensure they become natural for
her. In other subjects Brooke applies herself well and takes pride in the
presentation of her work. Socially Brooke has fit into the school extremely well,
however sometimes Brooke must think carefully about how she responds to
challenges from students and staff, as sometimes she hasnt dealt with them as
positively as I know she could have. All in all, it has been a complete pleasure to
work with Brooke, and Im really proud of how far she has come in the short time
shes spent so far at St Marys. I wish her all the best as she moves on to Year 6
and continues to improve more and more! Well done Brooke!
Lilly Harris
Lily has been a delightful character to have in 5C this year and I have really
enjoyed getting to know her especially since teaching her briefly in year 3! Ive
been so impressed and proud of Lilys hard work with her handwriting, especially
in this term. She has work hard and it has paid off Lily must keep this
exceptional focus to ensure this becomes the new habit! Although sometimes
slow and slightly distracted when we are settling down to write in Literacy, Lily
has brilliant ideas and knows exactly what she would like to include to create
effective writing. The real barrier is ensuring that she stays absorbed in her
writing so that she is able to display her creativity! In Maths, the same is slightly
true. Lily and I have been experimenting in using a timer to ensure Lily stays on
target during the lesson, and Lily has responded well to this, coming to collect
the timer independently to help her focus. To keep improving her mathematical
understanding Lily must continue to practice using a range of written methods to
ensure she develops her fluency in a range of calculations. Lily has a close group
of friends, and I always see her enjoying her time in school both inside and
outside the classroom. It has been a pleasure to be Lilys teacher this year, and I
wish her all the best as she moves on to Year 6. Well done, Lily!
Matthew Hatchwell
Matthew is a completely gentleman and his kind heart, mature and conscientious
nature is an inspiration not only to myself but to all his peers in the class and
year group. Always ready to offer a hand to help in class, and with an interesting
story, fact or anecdote to share it has been a pleasure to be Matthews teacher
this year. In Literacy, Matthew is always absorbed and ready to learn and he
works extremely hard to include all the features of effective writing. Matthew is
excellent when reviewing his work and is skilled in edit and improving his writing.
In Maths, Matthews calculation is phenomenal and he regularly challenges his
understanding to become an even stronger mathematician. Matthew is always
completely absorbed and accurate in his calculation. On occasion Matthew has
become slightly stuck with a new concept. However, Matthew always seeks

advice and works hard to build a concrete understanding of challenging

concepts. Across all subjects Matthews attitude to learning is brilliant and he
applies himself fully to his education. Matthew is well liked and respected by all
members in the class. His commitment to his passions; the church, singing and
his interests (most significantly science and geography) is an inspiration to all
and his enthusiasm to share his understanding displays a level of maturity above
his years. It has been an honour to get to know Matthew this year and I wish him
all the best as he moves on to Year 6. Well done, Matthew!
Clara-Sienna Hogg
Clara has been a delightful member of 5C and I have really enjoyed getting to
know her throughout the year. She has a lovely kind nature, and always looks
out for other people in the class. Other teachers, especially our French teacher,
have reported back to me at how hard working she is, which makes me very
proud! A large barrier to Clara being able to achieve her full potential is certainly
her confidence. Often Clara doesnt know where to start with work, and worries
about doing something wrong. Ive been trying to work with Clara to encourage
her just to have a go and then together we could review the work and edit if
necessary. Clara has taken this on board, but it is certainly something that she
needs to keep working on to ensure it becomes her natural habit. In Literacy,
although sometimes slow to start, Clara has fantastic ideas and with the
developed confidence well see more and more of these ideas in her writing.
Further to this, with a focus on editing, Clara will become confident with having
a go and improving her work further once she has some of her work on paper. In
Maths, confidence is also a barrier to her work. Clara is able to imitate a
particular method thats taught in class, however struggles when the method of
calculation changes for example in a test. Recently I have seen a huge jump in
her confidence with calculation, which we will continue to try and develop to the
end of Year 5. I have also noticed how willing Clara is to help other people around
her further showing her kind nature and independence. Ill miss having Clara in
my class, but I wish her all the best as she moves onto Year 6! Well done, Clara!
Keelan Howard
Keelan is a lovely member of the class, and a true gentleman! He has a fantastic
kind heart, and always looks out for his friends. Keelan is well liked by all
members of the class and year group, and is a great team worker no matter who
he works with. In Literacy, Keelan is regularly absorbed in his work, however,
sometimes he must think about managing his distractions to ensure he gives his
all in lessons. Further, Keelan should focus on the practice of editing his work to
ensure that he can further improve his effective writing. In Maths, although
sometimes slow to fully grasp certain concepts, Keelan works hard to establish a
mathematical understanding. I have also noticed throughout the year that Keelan
works well with a peer to logically tackle complicated maths problems. To keep
progressing in Maths, Keelan should continue to practice a range of written
methods to ensure he is developing his fluency in calculation. In other subjects
Keelan is regularly the first to be ready to focus on the lesson, and his maturity is

an inspiration to his friends and peers. He is very sociable and I always see
Keelan enjoying his time inside and outside of the classroom. It has been a
pleasure to work with Keelan this year and I wish him all the best as he moves up
to Year 6. Thank you Keelan, and well done!
Myles Jarrott-Chase
Myles has been a fantastic character to have in 5C and I have really enjoyed
getting to know him further, especially since working with him briefly in Year 3. I
feel Myles has come along way since then in terms of his maturity and
responsibility to his work. Myles is always enthusiastic, no matter the subject
and, although he can be easily distracted, he is a hard worker. In Literacy, weve
had some breakthroughs with Myles in terms of the structure of his written work,
however as I have said, Myles must learn to manage his distractions to ensure he
meets his full potential in his written work. Further, Myles must practice the skill
of editing his work to ensure that he can make his work even better through
carefully checking of a range of punctuation, capital letters and including
advanced features in his written work. In Maths, Myles is very capable when
imitating a particular method that has been taught in lessons. However,
sometimes Myles struggles to be accurate when asking a range of questions.
Myles should continue practicing a variety of written methods to ensure he
develops the fluency of his calculation. As well as this, returning to challenging
questions to checking his accuracy would benefit him even further. Although
sometimes lively it has been a pleasure to have Myles in my class this year, and
I wish him all the best as he moves up next year! Well done, Myles!
Noah Laird
Noah has been an absolute delight to have in 5C and I have really enjoyed
seeing him grow through this year. He is very mature for his age, and is always
ready to learn and focus on instructions. He has a lovely group of friends and is
well liked across the class and year group. In Literacy, although Noah has
barriers when recording his ideas, he uses his rich creativity and imagination to
create unique and interesting pieces of written work. Through including the use
of a computer to record his ideas, we have been able to focus more on the
structure of his sentences, without having to think about the act of recording
them. Noah never lets his barriers affect his attitude to learning, and shows true
resilience to complete his work to the best of his ability. In Maths, Noah is a
capable mathematician, however sometimes his presentation means he cant be
accurate with his calculation. I have been encouraging Noah to focus on one digit
in each square to organise his working out, and when he is reminded of this, it
supports his calculation. In other subjects Noah is often completely absorbed in
his work, on rare occasions Noah must exercise his ability to manage distractions
to ensure he is on task in lessons. It has been my honour to have Noah in my
class this year, and I wish him all the best as he moves up to Year 6! Well done,
Noah.
Siena Lanca

Siena is an absolutely delightful young lady, and she has been a complete
pleasure to teach for the duration of this year. Never have I seen Siena shy away
from a challenge, and is relentlessly positive in the face of any barriers to her
learning. Throughout this year we have been working on developing Sienas
confidence, especially in Maths, and we have seen significant progress in bother
her ability and her attitude to challenging concepts. To continue her progression
it is important for Siena to continue her hard work on her times tables and to
keep practicing using a range of methods to develop the fluency of her
calculation. In Literacy, Sienas creativity and imagination is a huge asset to her
written work. Sometimes Siena struggles to include the complex structure of
effective writing, and she must focus when thinking about capital letters and a
range of punctuation to continue her progression. In all other subjects Siena is
always hard working and absorbed and her attitude to learning is fantastic. Siena
is always smiling, and always tries her best, no matter the challenge. She is a
real inspiration and her contributions to classroom discussions often have a
depth that surpasses much of the class. Siena is extremely well liked in the class
and year group and always has time for any of her friends. I have genuinely
loved being her teacher, and I will miss her greatly as she moves on to year 6
but I wish her all the best next year! Well done, Siena!
Caitlin Lynch
Caitlin is a valued member of 5C and I have really enjoyed getting to know her
and seeing how she progresses through the year. Caitlin has an extremely kind
heart and works well with her peers in 5C. In Literacy, Caitlin uses her fantastic
imagination and quirky, unique ideas alongside integration of the effective
features of writing to create engaging pieces of work. Sometimes Caitlin is
slightly distracted when attempting to work independently, so, to improve her
work even further in the future, Caitlin must work on managing her distractions
and becoming absorbed in her own writing. In Maths, Caitlin often struggles to
build a concrete understanding of new concepts, however Caitlin is always ready
to seek advice and with practice is regularly successful. To further her
mathematical understanding, Caitlin must continue to practice a range of written
method calculations to develop her fluency in problem solving. In other subjects
Caitlin regular works hard and although sometimes distracted by friends, is
successful throughout her work. Socially, although Caitlin may have struggled at
the start of the year, she has found a place in the class, and is well liked by her
peers. She is enthusiastic to share her passions and is curious to find out more
about other peoples. It has been a pleasure being Caitlins teacher this year, and
I wish her the very best as she moves on to Year 6. Well done, Caitlin!
Henry Marshall
It has been a real pleasure to have Henry in 5C this year. He is a true gentleman
and always looks out for friends and peers alike. I have been particular proud of
how well Henry supports other members of the year group particularly in
sports. He always supports others who may need some encouragement, and this
means a huge deal to those students. Henry is a natural mathematician and

always strives to develop his understanding of concepts taught in lessons. Henry

also has excellent exam practice and takes time to review his work to ensure he
is as accurate as possible, and need I say anything about his times table always
the first to finish with incredible accuracy! The pace of his calculation serves him
well across any topic in Maths. In Literacy, Henry is regularly absorbed in his
writing and always brings me his work with pride. Henry effortlessly includes
effective features of writing and I regularly use Henrys work as an example of
good practice. Henry has a great group of friends and is well liked and respected
across the year group. A further asset to Henrys character is his confidence to
stand up for things that are right and is often a role model to his friends. It has
been a delight to have Henry in my class this year, and I have no doubt he will
continue going from strength to strength next year! Well done on a fantastic year
Henry!
Daisy Morrall
Daisy has come from strength to strength this year. Her confidence has grown so
much throughout the year that she is confidently reading out her work and
contributing regularly to classroom discussions. Daisy is always hard working and
is consistently absorbed in her work. In Literacy, Daisy uses her brilliant
imagination to create wonderful settings and characters, often accompanied by
her great dragon illustrations! To progress even further, Daisy must get into the
habit of reading through her work to check she has including all the effective
features of writing, checked and corrected capital letters and include a range of
punctuation. In Maths, Daisy sometimes gets stuck working on a new concept,
but with practice she soon builds a sound understanding. Sometimes I have
found Daisy stuck on the same problem for a while, so Daisy must get into the
habit of asking for advice should she need it, or use resources available to
support her calculation. To keep her progression going Daisy should continue to
practice a range of written methods to improve her fluency in her calculations
even further. Outside of lessons, Daisy is always enthusiastic to share her
experiences with the class often bringing in interesting and engaging show and
tells, presenting them confidently to her peers. It has been a pleasure to get to
know Daisy over the course of this year, and seeing her grow in confidence has
been the icing on the cake! I wish Daisy the best of luck as she moves on to Year
6. Well done Daisy!
James Pearce
James has been a hard working, focused and creative young man to have in 5C
and it has been my pleasure to teach him for the course of this year. He is
regularly the first one to be ready to learn, resulting in countless Absorption
dojos throughout the year! James is inquisitive and always makes links between
learning in a lesson as compared to topics throughout the year. In Literacy, James
manages to skilfully match the features of effective writing with his own
imagination and creativity resulting in unique and exciting pieces of work. In
Maths, James quickly picks up the understanding for new concepts and readily
applies them when problem solving. In other subjects, James is regularly

enthusiastic to challenge his understanding and deepen his curiosities of the

world. Although on the whole James has been extremely focused throughout the
course of the year I have noticed a slight withdrawal from his focus in lessons.
It hasnt influenced his fantastic progression for the year but James must keep
an eye on his attitude to learning and ensure that it continues on the brilliant
path that James has set out this year. Socially James enjoys the time in school
with his friends and it is always brilliant to hear the successes that James has
with the sports teams he plays for. In all, James has had a brilliant year at St
Marys, and Ive been really impressed with his maturity and overall enthusiasm
to learn. Its been a pleasure to be James teacher this year and I wish him all the
best as he moves up to Year 6! Well done, James!
Asha Stephens
Asha has been a pleasure to have in the class all year and I have really enjoyed
getting to know her further especially after briefly teaching her in Year 3! Asha
is always positive and gets on well with everyone in the class and year group. Its
been lovely to see how welcoming she was to Brooke when she joined us her
kind heart supported Brooke in getting to know new people and the school. In
Literacy, Asha usually incorporates the key features of effective writing in her
work however sometimes it takes a while for Asha to become completely
absorbed in writing. Asha must focus on managing her distractions to ensure she
meets her full potential in Literacy. Likewise in Maths, Asha is sometimes
distracted when starting independent work, but when focused Asha is hard
working and is consistently successful with a sound mathematical understanding.
Asha must continue to focus on her work and ensure she practise written
methods to ensure she keeps progressing the fluency of her calculation. In other
subjects, Asha is regularly focused and ready to learn from the very start of the
lesson. She applies her curiosities well and is successful in all that she does.
Always enthusiastic, Asha often comes up to me to share little stories and jokes,
and I will miss those moments as she moves up to Year 6. As long as she
continues to focus on her independent work Asha will go from strength to
strength! Thank you for being a lovely part of 5C, Asha well done!
William Taylor
I have been so impressed with the maturity that has built up in William since I
last worked with him briefly in Year 3. Many teachers and staff have positively
commented to me about what a great change there has been in William, which
makes me proud every time! William is an enthusiastic young man and has many
friends in the class and year group. In Literacy, although slow to start, William
uses his creativity to create unique pieces of work. Sometimes William isnt as
focused as I know he can be, but shows real determination to finish his work,
often choosing to sacrifice some of his break time so that he can finish his work
to his standard. In Maths, William is a sound mathematician and works logically
though problems. Sometimes Will forgets to manage his distractions, and on
some occasions hasnt completed quite as much work as I know he is capable of.
However, William works well in small groups, and equally supports others as well

as seek advice to build on his understanding. Will is certainly an active member

of the class and enjoys sharing his experiences with the class in a series of
confident show and tells that we, as a class, have enjoyed this year. I know that
with a touch more focus on his independent work William will continue to go from
strength to strength and keep the momentum that he has developed at St Marys
so far. Well done, William!
Oliver Wall
Oliver is a fantastic member of 5C and it has been a delight to get to know him
throughout the course of this year. On a daily basis Oliver comes up to me to
share his unique insight into a particular subject or share a fun link he has made
between features of the lesson. In Literacy Oliver is always absorbed in his
learning and carefully integrates effective features of writing. Sometimes Olivers
pace of his writing is slow, which limits the amount of work he creates in lesson
sometimes creating a barrier to what he can achieve, however Oliver is
consistently successful. To keep making progress Oliver should work on keeping
the pace of his writing is flowing. In Maths, Olivers presentation and logical,
accurate work in his calculation means he is extremely successful. He shows care
when reviewing his work to catch any potential mistakes and is always ready to
challenge his understanding to develop his knowledge even further. Further to
this Oliver works extremely well with other people, further supporting his own
and peers mathematical understanding. Across all other subjects Oliver shows
the same fantastic attitude to his learning and displays his confidence by always
contributing to classroom discussions. It has been my pleasure to be his teacher
this year, and I will miss him next year, but I know he will go from strength to
strength as he moves on to Year 6. Well done, Oliver!
Harriet Wallace
What can I say about my Harriet? She has been an absolute pleasure to teach all
year and I am daily inspired by her creative and imaginative take on all lessons
taught in school. She is kind hearted, always looking out for her friends and has a
great sense of humour. Harriet is always focused on her learning, and
consistently challenges herself to improve her understanding in all subjects. In
Literacy, Harriet always skilfully integrates the features of effective writing into
her creative and unique stories. Harriet is fantastic at adopting a different
perspective and I can see her being extremely successful in Literacy throughout
her education. In Maths, Harriet confidently adopts new methods and can apply
them readily in increasingly complex problems. Harriet is careful and accurate in
her work, and always checks her calculation to ensure she does her absolute
best. In all other subjects Harriet is absorbed and inquisitive and due to her kind
nature, regularly helps others to support their understanding. I know parts of
this year has been a challenge, specifically working around her knee operation,
however Harriet never let this affect her education and always tried her best. It
has been a delight to have Harriet in my class, and I will miss her as she moves
on up to Year 6. I have no doubt that shell be just as exceptional and I will look

forward to hearing of her success! Thank you for a brilliant year Harriet, well
done!
Layla Whitmore
Layla has been one of my stars throughout the course of year 5. She is
relentlessly positive, kind and conscientious and always tries hard across all
subjects. Interestingly, at the start of the year Layla set herself a target of not
coming up for help as much, and as a result her independence has dramatically
improved! Layla approaches a challenge with new confidence, and Im very
proud at how she has motivated herself to get better and better! In Literacy,
Layla is always absorbed in her work and focuses when finishing some work to
edit and improve her effective writing. She skillfully integrates her fantastic
creativity, and on most occasions anything to do with Harry Potter! In Maths,
Layla is extremely hardworking and accurate, commonly challenging herself with
complicated calculations and being extremely successful. Sometimes Layla is
quite hard on herself on reflection of her work, so she should take pride in how
far she has come this year. Across other subjects Layla is always focused, and I
was so proud of her contributions in R.E., specifically when exploring Hinduism.
Socially Layla has a fantastic group of friends and I always see her around school
enjoying her time out of the classroom. It has been an absolute delight to have
Layla in my class this year, and I will certainly miss her as she moves on to year
6. Good luck Layla, youve been brilliant all year and Im sure youll go from
strength to strength!
