e) Distinguish between active and passive

voice

Activity

Describe what
the learning activity will be.
What will the students and
the teacher be doing? (This
includes what they are doing
with the technology).

The teacher will utilize Smartboard technology to

display the interactive Active or Passive Voice
lesson by Tracy Nordquist.

The teacher will introduce the lesson during the first

two slides, addressing how voice is important in
giving essays confidence, providing depth to
characters, and allowing nuance in the political
arena.

During the third slide, the IWB may be utilized to

cover by Zoe in the second sentence to
demonstrate passive voices ability to negate a
subject. The highlighter tool may also be used to
show the importance of the subject in the first

sentence.

The teacher should continue the lesson until page

5, where the highlighter/pen/focus tool may be used
to bring the students attention to the three reasons
listed.

The teacher should engage the students for

responses during pages 6,7,8, and 9. During these
slides, the teacher may use the highlight/pen tool to
locate the subject placement in the sentences
provided and ask the students if the sentences are
passive or active. The teacher should then reveal
the chosen selection and either continue or address
incorrect guesses as needed.

On the final slide, the teacher should utilize either

the text tool on their computer or the handwritingto-text tool on the Smartboard to rewrite the
sentence with the students in order to confirm their
understanding.
