Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

The activity that I have planned for my students is them using PowerPoint and incorporating the voice audio
aspect of the program to create an e-book. With the presentation being narrated, it is supporting all students
because you are able to hear the narration, even if students are unsure of what the narration is saying they
will have pictures to help guide them through whatever is being taught. This particular tool can also help to
clarify vocabulary and help promote understanding across languages.

Lesson idea implementation:

Students will be creating a PowerPoint incorporating the voiceover tool that allows the students to narrate.
The teachers’ role throughout the entirety of this lesson is to first present the standard and tell the students
what they will be making the presentation over. Next, the teacher will show the students the example that he
or she already created. The students will then choose their own main number to multiply by, for example the
teacher chose multiples of 10 so a student might choose 6,4,3, etc. Once students have chosen their number
the teacher will further explain directions and tell them they have to go all the way up to the number 10 and
find a way to model their expression as well. Once all of the slides are done, the teacher will review the
students’ powerpoint slides and review the voiceover tool with them. Students will then proceed to record
and when finished the students will have a powerpoint that will be like a book that can serve as a tool or
manipulative that helps them with their time tables. The duration of this project will be a week.

Basic Productivity Tools (BPT)
I created this lesson for a mid-unit check-in to ensure that my students had an understanding of what their
time tables were and most importantly to see if they could incorporate a model with the expressions they
came up with. The most simple way for students to model their expressions would be through an array or
base ten blocks. This could impact my students’ learning because this is a fun activity for students to engage
with so it would be my hope that the excitement of the activity would lead to students wanting to learn more
of their time tables. To further extend this lesson, I could say that the students have to go beyond the multiple
of 10 and expand to at least the number 12.
