LESSON PLAN FORMAT

Reflection from prior lesson: Prior lesson students were introduced to creating styles, changing font color, changing
font size, and changing other font styles. Students were able to complete the assigned document in class and achieve
the objectives connected to the assigned Problems on pages 100-101.

Lesson Goal(s) / Standards:

Lesson Objectives:
With 100 percent accuracy, students will create a table in Microsoft Word displaying the word
Thanksgiving with things they are thankful for by following along with a guided example.
Students will demonstrate their ability to create and fill in a table in Microsoft Word by filling the tables
with animals with 95 percent accuracy. (Problem 1, pg 103)
Students will create and fill in a Microsoft Word table with names and addresses with 90 percent accuracy.
(Problem 3, pg 103)

Materials Needed: Microsoft Word, 26 Computers, Projector

Contextual Factors/ Learner Characteristics:


This class meets every other day as it is a block class. The class consists of 25 students, 13 males and 12
females. There is one student with an IEP in this section. Students with IEPs are excused from some of the
assignments. Assignments stay open for the whole six weeks to help students get assignments completed.
Assignments are expected to be completed during the class period and submitted. Students are required to
take the test at the same time as everyone else regardless of the assignments they have completed unless an
absence has occurred.

A. The Lesson

1. Introduction (include time allotment)


Review from yesterday10 questions will be asked randomly to see if students can explain the
steps for the processes covered yesterday. (5 min)
Ask students for example of items that use tables, like a Bingo game board. (5 min)

2. Content Delivery (include time allotment & instructional methodologies)


Content is delivered verbally with an example to do together during the first 20 minutes of class.
o Creating a table about Thanksgiving while following instructions
o Allowing for questions
Next students are assigned Problems 1 (creating a table to categorize animals) and 3 (creating a
table to store names and addresses) on Page 103 and follow the instructions in the book. (30-45
min)
Students will print off a screen clipping of each table and hand it in before the beginning of the
next class period. (2 min)

3. Closure (include time allotment)


Grade student assignments who have completed the homework in allotted classroom time. Ask
students if they understand and what they learned today (5 min).
If time allows, students may use a table to create a Bingo board and play in groups of 2 or 3. (Will
show one way that students use tables in real life.)

B. Assessments Used
The table exercise will be worth 30 points, each table being worth 10 points. Creating each table in
the correct size will be worth 5 points each. The other 5 points o for each table will be for
correctly filling in the tables.

C. Differentiated Instruction
I will go through important or difficult steps on the projector for all types of learners to watch,
listen, and ask questions.
Students will be able to follow along with written and verbal instructions with steps shown on the
projector.
Students are to complete the assignment in the class period; students with keyboarding or learning
disabilities will have an extra day.
