Brag Sheet

1. What do you plan to study as a college major and why? What

experience do you have which will help you prepare for that major?
In college, I would like to major in either interior designing or social work. Ive
never had experience in interior designing professionally, but I definitely have
understanding of what it takes to be a good designer because I do practice every
time I redecorate my room. As for social working, I can say I havent had any
experience at all; however, I was inspired by my close friend who is in the foster
care system.
2. What course was the most challenging for you over the past three
years? How did you grow from this experience?
Over the past three years, the most challenging course for me was English
because I dont consider myself the best writer and I found it difficult to construct
essays. I grew from this experience because it made me try harder to become, at
least, a decent writer and overall a more driven student.
3. Have you taken any additional classes outside of school that are not on
your transcript? If so, please list the class, school attended, and grades.
Some classes I took that are not on my transcript are English college courses
(English 47A and English 101) from Mesa/City college. I worked long and hard, and I
was able to pass both courses with a B.
4. Pick three original adjectives that you believe would best describe who
you are? Then explain why you selected them.
Caring - I may seem like a very serious person and even one who doesnt
really care about others; however, that couldnt be farther from the truth. I
know it is important for a person to put themselves first in many situations,
but I choose to prioritize others especially when they are going through tough
times because I know it will not only make them feel good, but I get to feel
accomplished afterwards as well.
Thoughtful - I am very considerate towards everyone, especially those I care
about the most. I always go out of my way to make their day or simply put a
smile on their face. I try to think of the small things that could make their day
brighter and better.
Hardworking - I am constantly running on a busy schedule: sleep, school,
managing the wrestling team and working on the weekends. It definitely
seems impossible for me to get any schoolwork done, but I try my hardest to
do what I can when I am able to.
5. What event or activity (positive or negative) has had the most significant
impact on you in your life and shaped you as a person? Why?
An event that has the most significant impact in my life is the time my family
got into a car crash that couldve killed them all. It has shaped me as a person
because it made me be more appreciative of everything and everyone I have. I am
now more aware of everything I was blessed with, including my education. It was
just a traumatic experience and one that really made me truly believe that
everything and anything good in my life can come to s a sudden end at any given
time.
6. Please share one leadership role you have held during high school and
describe how it has shaped who you are as a person.
I havent really help a leadership role during high school, at least not one that
is related to sports or something more inspiring; however, I did find out I am tied at
number two for one of the highest GPAs in SciTech. I think I consider that a
leadership role because I did go through a lot and Im still struggling with 8 classes
and work to try to maintain that rank. Im not only doing it for myself, but also for
those who think that it is impossible to do too many things at once. I am constantly
tired--yes-- but hopefully itll all be worth it.
7. Please describe any academic or personal barriers and how you have
overcome them. How have they interfered with your academic performance?
A personal barrier that has taken a great toll on my life and further affected
my academic performance was the ongoing argument that wouldnt fail to
arise every afternoon when I would get home from school. It didnt happen for
long, but it was detrimental to have to get home and the only thing I had to
look forward to was locking myself in my room. I wanted to spend time with
my family without screaming and tearing each other apart for the same exact
reason every single time. Although I did not speak too much about it, it was
obvious that I was struggling in all my classes and it came to the point where I
had to fail every subject to realize that my life at home needed to change.

8. Is there any additional information you would like your colleges to know
about you that you will not be able to share in your application?
I am currently in the wrestling team, not as an actual wrestler, but as a
manager. Im sure itd be more impressive to be the one on the mat, but I
have learned many things by being a manger. I have acquired more prominent
organizational and communicative skills. In addition, I have learned to manage
my time in a smart manner by trying to get stuff done so that when I get
home, I wont be overwhelmed with homework.
9. **What would you want the admissions office to know that they could
not learn from your school records or application? Possible topics may include
greatest strengths, most unique characteristics, significant family events,
personal obstacles, and how you cope and overcome challenges.
I think my most unique characteristic is constantly having a positive outlook
on life. I am human, I go through rough times, but I try my best to snap out of
them so I can continue being a source of positive energy to those who
surround me.

10. **Please explain any extenuating circumstances/comments/additional

information you would like to share (i.e. extended absence due to illness, other
school attended during high school, learning disability, special talents, etc.)
This is probably the worst special talent one can have, but I am quite
manipulative. I probably shouldnt consider it that because it is neither special
nor a talent, but it definitely isnt easy. Being manipulative is a negative
connotation, so I prefer being described as someone who strives to get what
she wants.
