Footing Load Analysis and Displacement

The document provides steps to simulate the indentation of a footing using load advancement in a plastic calculation. It instructs the user to add a phase, name it, activate prescribed displacement, start the calculation, review the total reaction force under the footing which is obtained by multiplying the reached force value by 2*pi, and view the total displacement results.

Load advancement.

Within the plastic calculation, the prescribed displacement is activated

to simulate the indentation of the footing
Step 24: Click Add phase button in the Phase Explorer to Phases window
Step 25: Define the name of Phase 1 in ID box
Step 26: Click Stage Construction table to activate Step 27: Right click the prescribed
displacement in draw area and select Activate option
Step 28: Click the Calculation button to start calculation

1.6 Review the result

1.6.1 Total reaction to the footing
Open the Phase window to review the value of Force-Y in the Reached value subtree. This
value represent the total reaction force corresponding to the applied prescribed vertical
displacement, which corresponds to the total force under 1 radian of the footing. In order to
obtain the total footing force, the value of Force-Y should be multiplied by (2*). The value
is -93.56 kN and the total force is 93.56*2* = 588 kN
1.6.2 Total displacement
Step 29: Click View calculation results button
Step 30: In the Deformation menu select Total displacments ---> |u| option.
