Preassessment and Findings: I asked what he knows about spiders

and he said that they spin webs to stay busy. I asked how many legs a
spider has and he said four. saw a spider outside and she said that it was
a small spider. used his hand to show me how big a spider is by using
his hand. I was reading the busy spider to and I asked her why the spider
was spinning the web and she said for fun. I asked what spiders eat and
she said bugs. I asked where spiders live and he told me that they live
outside, but that he has seen them inside to. I asked if she liked spiders
and she said no because they are mean. I also asked her how they catch
their food and she said that she didnt know. From these assessments, I see
that the children know what a spider is, but they dont know why they spin
webs or how many legs they have.

Ideas to be Emphasized:
1. Spiders have 8 legs and are different sizes.
2. Spiders spin webs to catch their food.
3. Spiders are hairy and use those hairs to taste and to protect themselves.

Questions to be answered by the children:

1. What does a spider look like.
2. Why do spiders spin webs

First-hand Experiences:
1. See a spider
2. Feel spider webs
