Starfall, ABC Lesson Plan Weeks 1-2; Weeks 3-4 (if

needed)

Objectives:

After interacting with websites that teach the letters of the alphabet,
students will be able to name all 26 letters of the alphabet.

After interacting with websites that teach the sounds of the letters of
the alphabet, students will be able to name the sound of at least 20
out of 26 letters of the alphabet.

Materials:

ABC formative assessment


Directions in English and Spanish
Computer with Starfall

1. Meet with each student individually and give each of them the ABC
formative assessment to determine which letters need to be worked
on. Highlight the known letters on the assessment recording sheet.

2. As a group, read the directions in both English and Spanish about


how to use Starfall.com, ABC.
English: You will be using the computer to learn the your
letters. You will have a post-it note with some letters you need
to practice. Click on one of the letters and listen to the letter
name and the sound that letter makes. Keep clicking where the
computer tells you to. Do your best to remember because I will
be asking you to show me the letters you know.

Spanish: Va a utilizar la computadora para aprender las letras.


Tiene una nota post-it con algunas letras que usted necesita
para la prctica. Haga clic en una de las cartas y escuche el
nombre de la letra y el sonido que hace la letra. Sigue
haciendo clic en donde la computadora le dice que haga. Haga
todo lo posible para recordar porque le voy a preguntar que
me muestre las letras que sabe.

The website highlights where the students are to click so that they
can work independently.

3. Each day, put a post-it note with approximately 8 letters for each
student to practice. These letters may be the same for all three
students or individualized depending on the assessment results.
4. If grouping on the computer is needed, the teacher should be sure
the letters on the post-it note are letters that both students need to
work on.
