Second Grade PLC

Agenda for Oct. 28, 2014

For this meeting, we will:


1. Look at ELA Unit 3 and discuss pre-assessment, create assessment page, and discuss all
other needs to begin this new unit. (I, II) 30 min,

2. Set weekly goals for standards based lessons for the first week of Unit 3. (I, II) 15 min.

3. Create agenda for next PLC meeting. 10 min.

2nd Grade PLC Goals for 2014-2015: 2nd Grade PLC Norms:
Let it Go! (5 min.)then Choose to Be Present
To develop and use common formative assessments Focus on the BIG Picture
Assume positive intent & keep an open mind
To define criteria for each level when scoring assessments
(calibrating expectations) Maintain ownership of all students
Be mindful of the time- Bobbie will be our timekeeper-
To use data to determine implications Code word when we stray for norms Meanwhile.
(focusing our work on actions for student learning) Understand that learning is a process, not an event.

Characteristics of a Highly Effective PLC:


I. What do students need to learn? (planning instruction)
II. How will we engage them so they learn best? (planning instruction)
III. How will we know when each student has learned? (development and analysis of
assessment)
IV. How will we respond when a student experiences difficulty in learning?
(interventions and developing and analyzing formative assessments to see if the interventions
are working and how we need to flexible group students and not keep students in the same
interventions)
V. How will we respond when a student clearly has mastery of the learning
standards? (enrichment developing learning activities and accelerate learning opportunities
for students who have demonstrated mastery of the content)
