EMBEDDED QUESTIONS USE

Embedded questions
These questions are used to achieve politeness. Even
though they are questions, they have the same
structure of an affirmative sentence.

1) Yes/No questions = If whether.


Ex: Is that your book? Can you tell me if that is
your book?
I wonder whether that is
your book.

2) Information questions = Wh Whever.


Ex: Where is her house? Do you know where her
house is?

We dont know where her house


is.

Ex: When does he leave? Can you ask when he leave


s.?

I wonder when he leaves.

Only omit: do, does, did.


Keep any other auxiliaries.

3) Mental activities verbs = That.


Ex: I didnt know that she wrote a book.

She forgot that his name is Gabriel Garca Mrquez.
