FOREWORD
The growth and promotion of the SME sector - the backbone of the Philippine economy - tops the Presidents 10-point agenda
for economic development. In line with this, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) was tasked to map out a three-year
program, the National SME Agenda, that will pool together key players in SME development into an integrated and
comprehensive support system for SMEs. The system encompasses the whole enterprise development cycle and is composed
of five linked elements: financing, HRD and training, marketing, product development, and advocacy. In order to sustain the gain
of the National SME Agenda, the SME Development Plan for 2004 2010 was crafted.
The Plan aims to develop a vibrant SME sector that will provide a strong domestic supply base for globally competitive
industries. In line with SME Information Support as contained in the Plan, the Bureau of Small and Medium Enterprise
Development (BSMED) has been publishing and disseminating information materials for SMEs to promote their growth and
development.
This directory provides vital information on existing common service facilities nationwide which SMEs may tap to help increase
their output and boost their competitiveness. The scope of services covered includes:
