CIRCULAR
Dear Students,
The hostel rooms for the academic year 2017-2018 will be allotted based on
the seniority of the hostel students.
The hostel rooms for NRI will be allotted from their reserved rooms as per
their merit within their group.
The rooms for foreign students and non stipendiary research scholars will be
allotted as per their choice.
For the purpose of Hostel Room Allotment Counseling the hostel students
will be categorized into three groups namely, G1, G2 and G3 based on year
of study as follows:
Group I (G1)
1. III Year B.Tech
2. III Year & IV Year M.S(S.E) and M.Sc (Integrated)
3. I year M.Sc, MBA & MCA
4. II year B.Sc., BCA, B.Com. and BBA
Group II (G2)
The percentage of beds (for students in each group) will be allotted as follows.
Room Type G1 G2 G3
Single bedded 45% 45% 10%
Double bedded 45% 30% 25%
Three bedded 40% 30% 30%
Four bedded 30% 30% 40%
Six bedded 30% 30% 40%
Counseling Date and Time:
Counseling Process:
NCGPA ranking (Serial No.) of the students taking part in the counseling
process will be displayed in their respective student login one day in advance
only.
For allotment of rooms, students will be called as per their NCGPA ranking
(Serial No.) in descending order (higher to lower). The highest NCGPA of
the student in the group will be considered as the NCGPA of the group in the
sharing room allotment. In the sharing room, room allotment can be done
only if the group has full room strength (Ex: For 4 bedded room, we need 4
students).
Roommates:
o The students can select their room partners falling within that group
only (Ex. G1 with G1).

o Only the topper in the group will be allowed to enter the counseling
hall for selecting the room. During the counseling, the topper shall
have to bring the original proper ID card of all the intended
roommates and get the room allotment for all of them.
Mess
o Initially Mess will be allotted to the students nearest to their allotted
room. Students can change their mess in the routine mess change
process being done every month.
Final year students intending to stay for one semester also need to pay the
one year hostel fee. (However, if they get project/internship outside VIT
one semester hostel fee may be refunded provided they should vacate
the hostel on or before the date fixed by Hostel Administration based on
the last Term End examination of that semester).
Student has to pay full amount of the mess preferred + Rs.10,000 as room rent
advance (by way of Online Payment http://vtop2.vit.ac.in:8080/ONLINEPAYMENT/
or Demand Draft ) on or before 4th March 2017 and obtain authentic fee receipt
from Finance Office. Mess Fees are as under:-
For South Indian Veg. Mess + rent advance: Rs. 51,000 (Rs. 41,000 + Rs.10,000)
For South Indian NV Mess + rent advance : Rs. 56,500 (Rs. 46,500 + Rs.10,000)
For North Indian Veg Mess + rent advance : Rs. 54,500 (Rs. 44,500 + Rs.10,000)
For North Indian NV Mess + rent advance : Rs. 60,000 (Rs. 50,000 + Rs.10,000)
For Special. Mess + rent advance : Rs. 63,000 (Rs. 53,000 + Rs.10,000)
The balance hostel fee payment shall be paid within 30 days from the date
of counseling to confirm your room allotment failing which the
provisionally allotted room will automatically be cancelled without any
notice.
Alternatively, students can also pay their total hostel fee before their room
counseling. If excess amount is paid, the balance will be refunded after
counseling is completed as per accounting procedure.
The students can pay their fee online through their student login using
Internet Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card or Demand Draft. Student
paying online can generate their fee receipt online from their student login
and get it printed. Students those who make payment through Demand
Draft are advised to obtain fee receipt by submitting the Demand Draft at
the Cash Counter, Hostel Accounts Office well in advance.
Students who have paid full amount of the mess preferred + Rs.10,000 as
room rent advance will only be allowed to attend the room counseling.
Students who intend to withdraw their allotted room may submit their
request before 31st May 2017 so that they can get their refund amount in
full. Allotted rooms should be accommodated immediately on
commencement of Fall Semester 2017-18. Request to withdraw the
allotted room after July 2017 (with/without occupying) WILL NOT BE
ENTERTAINED. Refund of such cases will be as per VIT norms.
