It is an honor and a pleasure to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Jared Pazin. As Jareds
11th grade U.S. History teacher, as well as one of his basketball coaches for the past several years,
I've watched him grow into an outstanding and dedicated student athlete and well-rounded young man.

Jared has overcome adversity at the deepest emotional level by demonstrating tremendous resilience
in the face of losing his father when he was in 6th grade. Incredibly, he still finished junior high on the
A honor roll, while playing multiple sports and participating in various activities. He carries this internal
fortitude into high school as he perseveres both on the court and in the classroom.

While studying the Cuban Missile Crisis last year in U.S. History class, Jared brilliantly articulated to his
study group and class the delicate behind-the-scenes negotiations that led to the Russians removing
their missiles from Cuba. His ability to work both independently and with others to research, analyze,
and support his claims made him one of the top students in the class. I can say, without a shadow of a
doubt, that he is one of the most hardworking students with whom I have had the opportunity to work.

Despite Jareds busy academic and activity schedule, he has positively impacted the youth in our
community through hands-on, service opportunities. In addition to being an honor roll student and
3-year varsity basketball player, Jared has been a volunteer coach and official for multiple, local youth
basketball programs. He is well respected for his character, skill-set, integrity, and ability to connect
with those hes serving.

As evidenced through close observation, I am certain that Jared is ready to tackle the rigorous and
challenging curriculum of the collegiate level. Jared will not take the path of least resistance, rather, he
will push himself to grow and develop personally and academically. He will immerse himself in his new
college community and bring all the energy, enthusiasm, commitment and talent that made him
successful in high school.
