To Whom It May Concern,

It is with pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Jalie Soesbee, one of
my most advanced students in American Sign Language at Garza Independence High School. I have
watched her work with discipline, self-determination and confidence, skills which will certainly serve
her well as she takes on new challenges in the arenas of education and employment.
One of Jalie’s most evident characteristics is her natural ability to influence and guide others.
She is undeniably a leader. Whether among peers in the classroom, in her church group or on the
basketball court (as the only female!), Jalie boldly takes charge, and others follow. She is increasingly
aware that “with great power comes great responsibility” and, consequently, I have also witnessed her
patiently shepherding others, with notable maturity and empathy.. Not surprisingly, she is also good
with taking care of children!. Additionally, as a critical thinker and very intelligent, Jalie comes up with
great suggestions that sync with the mindset of her peers, helping me as a teacher. She frequently
notices things in my blind spot and is likely to be a step or two ahead.
When Jalie enrolled at Garza, she set a goal to graduate early. Yet, as she found her niche and
recognized the value of growing some roots, she wisely decided to take advantage of being part of the
school community. She built relationships, played with the basketball crew every day at lunch, and was
actually my very first student to elect to move up to level three of ASL, despite not needing the credit.
Jalie excelled in her courses, stacking up multiple credits in a short time, while also working
considerable hours in her part time job. She still managed to stay ahead of her peers and graduated
three months in advance of her cohort. If Jalie takes on her future goals with the same sense of
determination and inner brawn that she did with her schoolwork, she will undoubtedly be successful.
Without reservation, I confidently recommend Jalie Soesbee for any academic or employment
opportunity. As a passionate and open-minded leader, I know she will do her part to make the world a
better place. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further questions.

Respectfully,
