I am wri ng this le er to recommend behalf of Jake Foss. I was his Algebra 2 teacher and have known Jake for
four years. I have great respect for Jake and truly believe that he is a deserving candidate. As an educator and a
coach, I am happy to be able to provide this recommenda on for such a deserving student.

As a student, Jake demonstrated a love of learning and the level of commitment necessary to succeed in
college and beyond. Jake is a senior at Merced High School. He currently has a 4.02 GPA. As a student, Jake
con nues to challenge himself academically every year. He is enrolled in several AP classes such as Calculus
and Physics. As a student in class, Jake displayed a desire to learn. He was hard-working and dependable. He
always assisted classmates around him if they ask him.

Jake has shown the maturity to balance his academic commitments with his extracurricular ac vi es.
Currently Jake is the Associated Student Body Vice-President. He has ac vely par cipated in student
government. His junior year, he was the Director of Athle cs. Jake has been a quarterback for the Merced
High football team. He is looked upon as a leader who loves to compete but also make others around him
be er. His hard work and dedica on earned him Oensive Player of the Year Honors. As a freshman football
player, he founded the Bears Give Back program. He believed that the football program could be used as
avenue to promote to giving back to the community of Merced. He uses the Bear Give Back to recruit
teammates to help the homeless or underprivileged children. As the current president, he has earned more
than 500 hours of community service hours.

I feel certain that you will be just as impressed with Jake as I am. Without a doubt, Jake has grown into a great
leader on and o the eld as well as in and out of the the classroom He has shown great love for his school,
his team and his community. As an educator who is commi ed to helping deserving students succeed, I
