I was Melissa's principal for 4 years. It has been such apleasure to work with a passionate and dedicated teacher. St. Mary's Sexsmith had many changes as we had to move into a new school, add a new Grade every year and growing as a school. Melissa always stayed positive with all the changes occurring and adapted very well. She taught mainly Grade 6. As ateaclrer, Melissa exemplifies the knowledge skills and auitudes needed to be a successful teacher.
Melissa always displayed leadership qualities and she was involved in the school leadership team. Melissa had to offer some professional development to her colleagues many times and she did it with ease and was always well prepared. Melissa got involved in many activities at school and in the community such as: the Sexsmith town committee for the Community Services, Toy Bingo which is one of our annual fundraising activities, prayer partners, Spirit Activities for the school, Science Fair, Christnas Concert, School Camival, Teacher supervisor for the Basket Ball team, preparation of her students for the Sacrament of Confirmation etc. As you can see her involvement in school goes well beyond any expectations. Both her short terrn and long term planning documents reflect the curriculum standards expected as well as the evaluation process she will follow to assess the level of leaming mastery. Melissa is very flexible and excels in her planning and organizatianskills. Melissa is a dedicated, hard-working teacher who is appreciated by her students, parents and colleagues. Our students and school have benefited from her membership in our profession. I have no reservations in supporting her candidacy for employment with your school district.
