on Play Play is how children express their views of larger society. Children begin to discuss race as early as three. We need to protect play because this is a way to end the social reproduction our society lives in. We can use play as a tool to help discuss race and play. By having children understand equality, we can disrupt discrimination and stereotypes.
HOW TO DISCUSS RACE AND
PLAY BY USING PLAY AS A TOOL IN WHICH DISCUSSIONS OF RACE CAN OCCUR, WE CAN CREATE A MEANS TO ELIMINATE DISCRIMINATION AND STEREOTYPES. BECAUSE PLAY INCORPORATES CULTURE INTO ITSELF, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE DISCUSS RACE AND CULTURE IN PLAY. CHILDREN NEED TO BE SURROUNDED BY DIFFERENT FORMS OF CULTURE IN PLAY TO CREATE AN UNDERSTANDING OF PEOPLE IN PLAY. BY HAVING CHILDREN UNDERSTAND THE CULTURALLY ASPECTS OF PLAY, WE CAN SUCCESSFULLY INCORPORATE ACCEPTANCE INTO PLAY. 2
