Questions:

1. What happen when a charge is quantized?

When a charge is quantized, it cannot take any value. The charge should be 1.6 x10-19 lower or
higher charges do not exist.

2. Define

a. Conductor- A conductor is a substance or object that electrons can go through with an

application of voltage.

b. Insulator-An insulator is an object that keeps electricity, heat or cold from efficiently passing
through.

c. Polarization- Polarization is an expression of the orientation of the lines of electrical flux in an

electromagnetic field.

3. What are a Daniell cell and a dry cell?

A Daniell cell is composed of a copper(II) sulfate solution then immersed an unglazed earthenware
container filled with sulfuric acid and a zinc electrode. The reaction of it produces energy. A dry cell is
a cell that passes electricity in a solid that forms into a paste to avoid spillage.

4. What is the difference between an ideal battery and a real battery?

An ideal battery has infinite energy and a real battery has limited. Another is an ideal battery has no
resitance and a real battery has one.

5. The electron and proton of a hydrogen atom are separated by a distance of about 5.3 x 10-11m. Find the
magnitude of the electric force that each particle exerts on the other.
