9:00am- Arrival and sign on Students will arrive at the 9:30am Memorial Swimming Pool, head to and complete registration. 9:30am- Welcome Welcome: Olivia Mansfield 10:00am (Coordinator) Introductions Guest Speakers: John and Gary Safety Haines Safety/Instructions: Olivia Mansfield 10:00am- Meet the teams and All students should have 10:30am Schools registered their teams. Each team will come on up and introduce them selves, their grade and school. 10:30am- Introduce Challenge and Speaker: John Haines 11:15am Sketch and design your Sketching boating on activity LEGO boat. sheet. 11:15am- Lunch and Socialise Lunch will be provided from 11:45am Subway Mackay. (ANY ALLERIGIES PLEASE COMPLETE ON REGISTRATION) 11:45am- Building your LEGO boat. Once you are satisfied with the 12:15pm design students start building your boat. 12:15pm- Session 1: Shallow End Session 1: Test your boat in the 12:30pm of Pool water. Does it float? If needed go back and re-design your boat. 12:15pm- Session 2: Deep End of (Year 5 students, 10 teams) 12:30pm Pool 12:30pm- Prediction of Pennies Session 2: Test your boat in the 12:40pm water. Does it float? If needed go back and re-design your boat. 12:40pm- Session 3: Shallow End (Year 6 students, 10 teams) 1:00pm of Pool (Year 5 Students) Prediction: Predict how many Session 4: Deep End of pennies you think your boat will Pool (Year 6 Students) hold before it starts to sink.
