Description of the artifact and how it meets the standard and criteria:

This artifact is a copy of the form I use to make math rotation groups. My fourth grade
team usually plans 2 days for each math lesson. When I have two days to teach a
concept to my students I like to teach directly the first day out of the text (using the
curriculum the district provides) and do rotations the second day where students are
able to get more hands on with the content. This artifact is what I use to make my
groups for day 2 rotations. The order that students complete the rotations in is based off
of a formative assessment that I do on day 1. Students that have trouble with these
formative assessment questions or quick check on day 1 are the first ones to meet
with me on day 2. Students that are already able to complete these problems
successfully independently still meet with me during rotations, just at different times.

Reflection on the artifact:

Day 2 rotations have worked awesome in my classroom so far this year. Students
always ask when we are going to have rotations because they enjoy a more hand on
approach to learning. I feel like the order that I have students meet with me works well
too. Some students in group 1 do not get their exit slip completely during the 10 minutes
given to them, for example, so they are allowed to keep working on it during their game
time or their think central (online math curriculum) time. This helps so that students do
not feel rushed and are getting enough time to show what they know and have learned.
