The European coordinator of the Erasmus+ KA2 partnership Comics in teaching


languages/La BD en classe de langues participated, the 10th of March 2016 at the
French Institute from Bucharest, to the Festivity organized for launching IFprofs a
complex global social platform, created by the French Institute and intended to all
French teachers and learners. The link between our strategic partnership and IF-
Profs is the following: our project has its own space now on IFProfs portal and will
be better promoted in Romania, in Europe and worldwide through this facility. A
new community on IFprofs was born, ours, entitled La BD en classe de FLE and it
will spread from now on all the project products intended for French teachers!

Classroom 2016, Budapest

Dear Friends, it was a unique opportunity for me to participate in the Microsoft E2 Edu-
cator Exchange #HackTheClassroom which took place in Budapest between the 8th and
10th of March 2016, having been selected from thousands of educators worldwide to
join a group of over 300 educators representing over 75 countries.

I was delighted to be welcomed to Mi-


crosofts Educator Exchange event
where the most innovative educators
from around the world came together
and shared expertise in integrating
technology and pedagogy to advance
learning and transform education.

During the event I had the opportunity


to learn, collaborate, teach and inspire.
I also had the opportunity to be ex-
posed to some of Microsofts latest
technologies and to share and learn
about the ways in which my fellow E2
educators are driving transformation in
their own classrooms.

I also had the opportunity to learn


about a number of innovative ap-
proaches to learning enabled by tech-
nology and to find out about various fa-
vorite ways to Hack the Classroom as
well as to learn more about Minecraft
and other game-based learning oppor-
tunities.

As an added bonus I had the great privilege of receiving an important award: the Group
Challenge Class Hack Award: Minimize 2nd Runner Up.

In conclusion, this event gave me the opportunity to open my horizons and to learn
how to integrate technology into quality teaching and to ensure students are equipped
with the skills required for the 21st century.

transnational reunion of the project

Between 25 to 29 April 2016, was held in Kastamonu (Turkey), the second transna-
tional mobility of the Erasmus + "Comics in Teaching Languages / La BD en classe de
langues"KA2 strategic partnership, coordinated by "Mihail Kogalniceanu" High School
Vaslui. In this international meeting, hosted by the partner institution, Kastamonu Me-
sleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi, the oldest high school technological high schools in Tur-
key, participated the representatives of each institution in the project (coordinator and
a person from the project team); the Romanian coordinating team was represented by
Ctlin Ignat, the official representative of the institution "Mihail Kogalniceanu" High
School, together with the project coordinator, Alexander M and Gianina Romacu
teacher, member of the project team.

The strengths of this mobility were the sessions dedicated to project management and
a series of tests and demonstrations of the Learning Management System - intellectual
product of the project. It was organized a regional seminar with teachers of English,
where there have been demonstrations of the Learning Management System functions.
Of course the evaluation, the brainstorming sessions, the discussions about future is-
sues of the magazine "Scaramouche" (a very appreciated final product of the project)
and workshops for transforming comics created by students in e-learning tools were in
the center of the activities.

n perioada 25-29 aprilie 2016, s-a desfurat la Kastamonu (Turcia), cea de-a doua
mobilitate transnaional a Parteneriatului Strategic Erasmus+ Comics in Teaching
Languages/La BD en classe de langues, coordonat de Liceul Teoretic Mihail Kogl-
niceanu Vaslui. Au participat la aceast reuniune internaional, gzduit de instituia
partener, Kastamonu Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi, cel mai vechi liceu cu profil
tehnologic din Turcia, reprezentanii fiecrei instituii din proiect (coordonatorul i o
persoan din echipa de proiect), iar din partea coordonatorului romn au participat
reprezentantul oficial al instituiei, profesor Ctlin Ignat, directorul Liceului Teoretic
Mihail Koglniceanu alturi de coordonatorul proiectului, profesor Alexandru M i
de profesor Gianina Romacu, membru al echipei de proiect.

Punctele forte ale acestei mobiliti au fost reprezentante de edinele dedicate man-
agementului de proiect i de o serie de teste i demonstraii ale Sistemului de Manage-
ment al nvrii produsul intelectual al proiectului. A fost organizat i un seminar re-
gional, cu profesorii de limba englez, n cadrul cruia s-au fcut demonstraii ale func-
ionrii Sistemului de Management al nvrii. Desigur, nu au lipsit evaluarea, sesi-
unile de brainstorming, discuiile despre viitoarele numere ale revistei
Scaramouche (un al produs final foarte apreciat al proiectului) i atelierele de trans-
formare a benzilor desenate create de elevi n instrumente electronice de nvare.

National Translations Contest
Corneliu M. Popescu, 2016 edition

The 13th edition of the National Transla-


tions Contest "Corneliu M. Popescu" was
organized on May 28, 2016 at "Mihail Ko-
glniceanu" High School in Vaslui (the
written test) and online, on the Learning
Management System (LMS) - the intellec-
tual product of the Erasmus + strategic
partnership "Comics in Teaching Lan-
guages / La BD en classe de langues"
http://lang-platform.eu/lms coordinated
by the highschool.

We can say that it was an edition of all


records: nearly 350 students participating
to the written test in Vaslui, contestants
coming from from all over the country,
with an online version containing a real
intellectual challenge - the participants
were invited to acquainted with the new
learning Management System (there were
created for all the participants new ac-
counts and passwords, neither more nor
less than 695 students from all Romania,
guided by 140 teachers). To keep in touch
with these passionate modern languages
learners and with their teachers, we have
created instructions, tutorials and regula-
tions and everything was "put on rails" to
"go smoothly" - on the new platform LMS
and with the subjects at the written exam this year, adding a touch of fantasy and
creativity, valuing the participants in the spirit of the strategic partnership Erasmus +
KA2 "Comics in Teaching Languages / La
BD en classe de langues" - umbrella under
which the competition was conceived; more
precisely, it has introduced a new subject,
consisting of a translation of one comic,
from a modern language in Romanian, a
third topic added to the other two - literary
translations from Romanian into the for-
eign language and vice versa. We had the
following sections: French language, Eng-
lish language, Spanish language, Italian
language, Russian language for the written test and French, English and Spanish for the
online contest. The ages of the participants - from 10 to 19 years old, divided into 4
categories (juniors 1-2-3 and Seniors).

The 13th edition of the contest introduced a new team for organizing the contest, made
up of volunteers - students aged 14-16 years old, of the bilingual profile from IXth D
grade (bilingual French-Italian, specializing in social sciences) and Xth C grade
(bilingual French-English - natural sciences), the direct beneficiaries of the Strategic
Partnership Erasmus + KA2 "Comics in Teaching Languages / La BD en classe de lan-
gues" who achieved with selfless and professionalism all the missions they have been
entrusted by meeting with enthusiasm specific tasks so that they facilitated the com-
munication between the participants and the teachers from the organizing committee -
from filming and picturing to uploading data in apps, and using logistics for the smooth
running of action.

We were very happy to receive guests from far away - not only neighbors from the de-
partments of Neamt, Suceava, Iasi and Bacau, but also from Braila, Constanta, Bucha-
rest or ... even Maramures! The online massive participation forced us to a total up-
grade, in order to not record some server failure during competition. Of course, no such
thing happened! And in online, we had actually present all the country!

We received very concrete support of the French Institute in Bucharest and of the Agre-
gadura de Educacin of the Spanish Embassy, of the clubs Kiwanis and Lions (Vaslui
subsidiaries) in order to provide prizes for all sections. We thank them all very much for
all their effort!

mains at the free disposal of the competitors and their teachers, which were created
special individual access accounts; there will be new courses (we have already started
"Le franais par la BD", "English through comics", "L'histoire de la BD", "Fumetti
nell'insegnamento della lingua italiana " ... a total of 13 online interactive courses
which can be sources of inspiration for optional subjects or educational materials - sup-
port for modern language classes). The 2017 online edition of "Translations contest"
will also be organized here ... and many other events.

All the institutions that have sent students into the competition will be proposed to
continue to be part of a consortium implementing the project results ...

A new DEOR event of our KA2 project took place on 20th of May 2016, in Vaslui,
when Comics in Teaching Languages/La BD en classe de langues was presented to a
public of kindergarten teachers from all Romania, in the frame of the National Sympo-
sium Fantasy and Color, organized by Kindergarten no. 15 from Vaslui, member of the
DEOR Consortium of Comics in Teaching Languages/La BD en classe de langues. Even

the theme of the Symposium, Fantasy and Color, was inspired by our project: the very
little children aged from 2 to 6 years old created fabulous comics Letters to the Sea-
sons of many meters length, painted by these little artists for creating stories about
their favorite activities during the most appreciated period of the year, as seen with
their little eyes.

We offer you a gallery with these magnificent paintings which covered the walls of
the Kindergarten, the day of the event.

International Symposium - Brlad,


13th 14th of May 2016

We participated to the International Symposium "Intercultural and interdisciplinary


approaches, necessary demarches of the contemporary learning process", organized by
our DEOR Consortium partner of the KA2 strategic partnership, the Technological High
School Petru Rare from Brlad, Romania.

The launching festivity event was organized at Victor Ion Popa Theater from Brlad,
a magnificent edifice which was just rebuilt, rearranged and reopen for the public in
September 2015: many talented pupils demonstrated their special talents the choral
Fantasia, guitar groups, theater troupe, soloists, dance ensembles... Officials pro-
nounced relevant speeches about the question of interculturality in the education pro-
vided by schools nowadays and a little ceremony of awarding prizes for the best pupils
of the organizing institution.

In the second part of the Symposium, our project was presented to the participants to
the scientific reunion.

At Agrupamento de Escolar de Vialonga (Portugal), it was held on 5 July 2016, the


Seminar on best practices, training and education, Erasmus + in which our project "La
BD en ClasseLangues / Comics in Teaching Languages" was presented to the entire

Intergenerational Education - an important DEOR
event in the life of the KA2 partnership

The 8th of April 2016 was organized in the frame of the Erasmus+ Strategic Partner-
ship Comics in Teaching Languages / La BD en classe de langues, a very important
scientific event which combined the dissemination and the exploitation of the projects
results, the work of pupils and teachers from all the institutions involved in the partner-
ship, the functioning of the regional Consortium for implementing the project: the In-
ternational Symposium for Intergenerational Education, organized together with the
School Inspectorate, Alexandra Nechita School (principals Alina Moraru and Vladimir
Baban) and with the support of many local and regional institutions (City Hall of Vaslui,
CJRAE Vaslui, House of Didactic Body Vaslui, the Departmental library Vaslui, the Pre-
fecture of Vaslui all the institutions that are participating in the Consortium for the
projects implementation). The international partners of the project joined this effort
and presented high-level scientific and project management contributions: Comics in
Portugal by the project team of Barreiro; Teaching with Comics in Vialonga by
the project team of Vialonga Portugal; The Role of the Culture in the Study of a For-
eign Language by the project team of Frosinone Italy; The KA2 strategic partner-
ship in the frame of Microsoft E2 Educator Exchange Hack The Classroom 2016 Buda-
pest by Antonis Antoniou, the project coordinator of the Cyprus team; The Usage Of
Culturel Heritage in Comics is the title of the scientific paper of Kastamonu project
team from Turkey, lead by Ilker Aricioglu, the project coordinator.

The International Symposium for the
Intergenerational Education - an important DEOR
event in the life of the KA2 partnership

The Comics Magazine Scaramouche the first 3 numbers - officially launched with
this occasion was really appreciated and admired by all the pupils and the teachers pre-
sent in the conference room. Big stories, high quality of the comics, beautiful colors and
high class print quality were valued as forming a professional product and it was said
that the next numbers are impatiently waited by all the categories of public. The special
website of the magazine http://www.lang-platform.eu/scaramouche - was also
launched, and the magazine can be read online, in flash dynamic format or downloaded
on the personal computer or device, in *pdf special format with thumbnails.

The Learning Management System (LMS) of the partnership the Intellectual Output
of the project was also presented in a first version from the side of the users pupils
that described in French their experiences as beneficiaries of this interesting and pow-
erful learning instrument proposed by the conceivers of the Erasmus+ project.

Another event was the official launching of the Didactic Magazine Clepsidre/
Hourglasses in a special format dedicated to the event, containing all the contribu-
tions of the indirect section participants. The volume has over 880 pages and almost
500 contributors from 36 (of the 41) departments (judee) of Romania, and from the
5th foreign partner institutions. You can download here your *pdf copy and use it in
your didactic activity.

The main moments of the Symposium were the following presentations: the project co-
ordinator, Alexandru M spoke about The Strategic Partnership Eramus+ KA2 and
about What is LMS, the Intellectual Output of the KA2?. Than after, the Spanish
teachers presented their scientific communications: Gabriela Tofan La enseanza
des lenguaje especializado a los alumnos que no estudian el espanol como lengua ex-
tranjera and Bogdan Nedelcu - "Mi experiencia de ensear espaol".

Than after, the Italian teacher Mirela Fighiuc talked about Lumorismo et il riso,
caratterische socioculturale nel fumetto. The French teachers from LMK Vaslui were
also present with the following contributions: Lola Ciolacu - La bande dessine et les
stratgies de motivation en classe de FLE and Cristina Borun La bande dessine
pour dbutants. The History teacher Carmen Ctlina Alexa spoked then on BD, cari-
caturile, animaia i rolul lor n propaganda din cel de-al doilea rzboi mondial / The
Comics, the cartoons and their role in the World War propaganda.

All the room enjoyed the presentations of the invited pupils from Mihail Ko-
gniceanu High School on the theme of their work and contributions to the Comics in
Teaching Languages/La BD en classe de langues strategic partnership: from the 10th
C grade (bilingual French natural sciences) spoke the pupils uchendrea Cosmin,
State Bianca, Rileanu Paul Alexandru, Arsene Andrei, Corda Dora, Bazon Andreea.
From the 9th D (bilingual French social sciences) participated Dobrovolschi Ioana,
Moise Lorelei, Ouatu Denisa, Neacu Radu. 10th A grade (informatics-math) were rep-
resented by the creators of Rosalinda comics series, Nstase Tudor Florin and Scurtu
Bianca Rosalinda. The representative of 11th D form, Aelenei Andreea-Ioana spoke
about Les BDs et la crativit; Luca Laura from the 11th F form, brought important
details on La bande dessine - la mme joie pour les diffrentes gnrations. The
9th B class has Mazga Andreea as representative, to talk on - La B.D. dans la vie des
adolescents Finally, all the audience was impressed, just as the foreign partners of
the project, by the comics Twists and by the presentation of the creative process by
the authors from 11th B form, Cire Mara and Budianu Vldu.

The teachers from Alexandra Nechita had also very interesting presentations about
their didactic activity: they spoke about the kindergarten of the school and its impor-
tance, about the pedagogic tendencies in working with special needs pupils; about the
perception we have concerning teaching and even about how to simulate a volcano ac-
tivity.

The event was also created by the artistic groups of the hosting school Alexandra
Nechita: School Theater, poetical theater dances, songs (popular and modern), ballet -
from the very little age to 8th form pupils. The best students of the school were
awarded with special diplomas for recognizing their efforts and the value of their con-
tributions to the school ethos.

The Symposium was sincerely appreciated by all the participants and we hope that,
by the mean of the documentary movie and of the pictures gallery, you will come
aboard and you will have the opportunity to live exactly the same emotions as the par-
ticipants from this beautiful spring day of 8th of April.

Dac n nvmntul tradiional, principalele metode le constituie conversaia, ex-


punerea, demonstraia, toate centrate pe profesor, nvmntul modern solicit apli-
carea metodelor active i interactive care dezvolt gndirea critic a elevilor i-i trans-
form din receptori pasivi ai informaiei transmise n actani ai procesului didactic.
Aplicarea acestor metode care genereaz nvarea activ i prin care elevii sunt iniiai
n gndirea critic nu este simpl, ci necesit timp, rbdare, exerciiu i este de preferat
s se fac de la vrste fragede, la toate disciplinele, ns cu msur. Acestea trebuie s
fie selectate i utilizate n mod riguros, creativ, n funcie de obiectivele propuse, de
specifcul grupului educaional i nu trebuie s constituie un trend sau un moft al cadru-
lui didactic.
Didactica actual pune accent pe mbinarea stilurilor de nvare vizual, auditiv i
practic. Banda desenat satisface cu succes exigenele stilului vizual, ntruct proce-
sarea informaiei se face prin utilizarea de imagini, diagrame, grafice i tabele, iar elevii
prefer acest stil. Avantajele utilizrii benzilor desenate n procesul predrii disciplinei
limba i literatura romn constau ntr-o nvare eficient. Elevii reuesc s vorbeasc
repede, devin buni organizatori, observ n special detaliile mediului (elementele fizice,
materiale, concrete), rein mai repede ceea ce au vzut, dect ceea ce au auzit, prefer
s citeasc singuri un text, nu s li se citeasc.
Profesorul este cel care creeaz mediul educaional favorabil, stimulativ i interesant
pentru nvare n clas, iar elevul este cel care aduce ceva din viaa lui, din afara colii,
din ciclul precolar sau experiena lui de via. n cadrul orelor de limba i literatura
romn, se pot folosi o multitudine de metode care s strneasc interesul copiilor.
Printre acestea se pot utiliza i metode ale gndirii critice. Elevii citesc cu plcere orice
text dac li se orienteaz atenia, curiozitatea i interesul fa de acesta. De cele mai
multe ori, aceste metode i solicit pe elevi s formuleze ntrebri referitoare la text,
ntrebri care s-i pun n dificultate pe colegii lor n cutarea rspunsurilor. Nici unii,
nici ceilali nu ar reui s fac acest lucru, dac nu ar citi textul cu atenie. Animaia i
cuprinde i atunci cnd ntrebarea pus are mai multe soluii. Uneori, metodele i antre-
neaz n citirea pe roluri, prin dramatizri, prin organizarea i distribuirea rolurilor n
echip, precum i prin folosirea unui vocabular propriu n replicile lor. Dezbaterea unor
probleme care i intereseaz, folosind argumente pro i contra, i ajut s decid
dac accept sau nu valorile i ipotezele din text.
Una din metodele care poate fi folosit n cadrul orelor de limba i literatura romn
i care implic utilizsarea benzilor desenate este Jurnalul dublu. Folosindu-l, elevii
pot observa c un text poate fi redat prin imagini i invers. De aici elevul i formeaz
deprinderi de a mpri textul n fragmente, folosirea unei imagini n locul unui frag-
ment i invers. Obinuii cu redarea textului prin benzi desenate, ei constat c un text
are un nceput (introducerea), o continuare a acestui nceput (cuprinsul) i apoi
ncheierea textului (sfritul), realiznd c textul nu poate fi lipsit de una dintre aceste
pri. Pentru a aplica aceast metod, copiii trebuie s-i mpart pagina n dou
coloane, trasnd o linie vertical pe mijloc. n partea stng se pot nota citate, frag-
mente, desene, benzi desenate, iar n partea dreapt le vor comenta, vor justifica
alegerea fcut, vor scrie ce i-a determinat s fac aceast alegere. Pot nota, de ase-
menea, impresii, sentimente, preri, ntrebri pe care i le-au pus atunci cnd au fcut
alegerea sau dac le-a fost impus, pot s-i spun prerea pro sau contra n legtur

cu cerina dat. Aceast metod se poate aplica att la textele n proz, ct i la cele n
versuri, pentru c le d posibilitatea elevilor s exprime prin cuvintele lor tot ceea ce
cred, simt, tiu, gndesc i neleg despre text, fragment.
La rndul su, profesorul are privilegiul de a furniza materiale vizuale ntr-o varietate
grafic. Se poate folosi de scheme, fie, schie rezumative uor de citit i neles. Pentru
conceperea acestora se folosete de ntreaga varietate tehnologic: computer, video-
proiector, camera de filmat, fotografia, net etc.
Utilizat preponderent la clasele mici, n gimnaziu, banda desenat se folosete ca ma-
terial auxiliar n predarea i receptarea unor specii ale genului epic precum: basmul,
schia, fabula n alctuirea unor instrumente de lucru: fie atractive ce presupun nv-
area prin joc sau metode didactice ca Ciorchinele sau Explozia stelar. n cadrul
orelor de literatur din liceu banda desenat poate aprea la unitatea de nvare Aven-
tur.Cltorie i Personaliti. Exemple. Modele la clasa a IX a sau la romanul grafic ca
un gen al benzii desenate serios, ambiios care se adreseaz unui public matur sau n
curs de maturizare, aa cum este cel format din elevii de liceu, n sensul c abordeaz
subiecte sociale grave, dificile de asimilat de ctre copii.
Amestecul de cuvinte i imagini l oblig pe elev s-i exerseze simultan abilitile inter-
pretative, vizuale i verbale. Cuvintele sunt redate ca imagini pe tot parcursul paginii,
iar imaginile devin textualizate, ceea ce ndeprteaz structura comunicativ de citirea
tradiional i o integreaz fenomenului transmedia (control, impact, context). Relaia
cuvnt- imagine/semnificaie - referent se reorienteaz spre domeniul dorinei autoru-
lui.
Elevii au privilegiul de a citi romanul n forma lui grafic, de a urmri filmul i de a iniia
dezbateri pe teme ca: familia, coala, credina, prietenii, experienele prin care a trecut
protagonistul i pe care cititorii le raporteaz la propria lor experien.
n contextul activitii didactice elevii au posibilitatea s-i completeze jurnale de lec-
tur, la fel de incitante precum cartea. i noteaz impresiile de lectur, i imagineaz
c sunt jurnaliti i adreseaz ntrebri autoarilor despre aspectele care i-au nedumerit
n carte, pot propune la rndul lor desene (simboluri, personaje sau figuri geometrice)
care s surprind ce li s-a prut esenial n fiecare capitol, pot interpreta desene asoci-
ate cu mrturisirile autoarilor sau pot compara cele dou lumi n care triete autoarea,
cu lumea lor.
n concluzie, forma aceasta de literatur strnge un numr foarte mare de fani, grafica
narativ ofer audienei o noutate n ce privete percepia existenei. Prin modul n care
banda desenat combin metodele formale specifice cu semantica mesajului se cristal-
izeaza conceptul de arta secvenial.Ca sugestii de mijloace didactice care implic
folosirea benzii desenate, demne de semnalat sunt: posterele, colajele jocurile cu pos-
tit-uri, puzzel-uri, fiele de lucru etc.
Metodele i tehnicile active i interactive au avantaje i dezavantaje. Dezvoltarea
gndirii critice, caracterul formativ i informativ, valorificarea experienei proprii a ele-
vilor, determinarea lor de a cuta i dezvolta soluii la diverse probleme, evidenierea
modului propriu de nelegere, climatul antrenant, relaxat, bazat pe colaborarea, ncre-
derea respectul dintre profesor i elev sau dintre elevi sunt cteva dintre avantajele
metodelor i tehnicilor active care fac din lecie o aventur a cunoaterii, n care copilul
particip activ dup propriile puteri. Dintre dezavantaje putem meniona pe cele de or-
din evaluativ, temporal, material, de proiectare, deoarece se creeaz agitaie n rndul
elevilor, necesit introducerea de elemente de creativitate pentru a evita monotonia
sau repetiia.
