It is Georges sixtieth birthday, and George and Marta desperately want to retire, to experi-
ence a little of the good life, before it is too late. Marta would love to travel. George just
does not want to end up dying in the yoke like his friend, Robbie. With a little creative
planning, the retirement dream might be achievable. There is only one catch. They only
have enough money to support themselves comfortably for twenty years. That is
where Certainty Assurance comes in. This organization offers a unique product
called Terminal Life Certainty that promises to end the clients lives right
when their money is scheduled to run out. Initially, Marta is not completely sold
on this product. She can clearly see the drawbacks. And there are the children
to think of: Gerald, who can never seem to last at anything, either a job or a
relationship, and Julie, who is intent on a marriage to a dubious partner, and
on a horrendously expensive wedding to seal the union. After George and
Marta become convinced that it is time to stop meddling in their childrens af-
fairs and instead start living their own lives, they sign up for this retirement
plan. They have a wonderful retirement, but then the day of reckoning arrives.
