Eulogy for my Grandpa

Our parents give us life.

Our grandparents give us a sense of who we are and where we came from.
Today, I have the honor of reintroducing you to Pedro Tangonan better
known as Tata Iddo. Born May 9, 1940. Son of Matin and Cecilia, Wife to Julieta,
Father of five children, 8 grandchildren, good friend and inspiration to all else who
meet him.
I am here today to reminisce the life and patrimony he leaves on the earth. It
was a long and happy life that all of his sacrifices for us was so priceless.
I could stand here for the day and remember all the stories of his life and for
that who knew Grandpa, you will definitely understand how long those stories could
be.
My grandfather was an amazing man who overcame a lot of obstacles and
accomplished a lot in his life. He grew up very poor on Brgy. 27 Duripes. He had a
difficult childhood. He spent countless hours a day working on the farm.
I loved to visit my grandfather and him and I were very close. I would go to
his house and sit around for hours listening to his stories from his childhood, his
friends and his career. He was very bright and a hard worker and I learned a lot from
him that helped me with my own pathway of life. I could always count on him to
help me with any problems I had and to give me great advice. Also, whenever he is
hungry, he always sends me to the store to buy his favorite snack which is bida.
That experience will be forever remembered in my brain.
Our Grandpa taught us many things as young kids that hold us in good stead
today: good manners, respect and sound moral values. These values have made me
who I am and I thank him a million times.
Grandpa: Your love, your patience, your understanding, your wisdom and
your amazing sense of humor will live on inside us forever. You have given us gifts
that are more precious than anything in this world. Goodbye, Grandpa. You will
always live on in my heart.
