Dear Sir/Madam:

It is with enthusiasm that I am writing to apply for your current opening for a
middle school Language Arts position. My experience working with students at the
middle and high school level, as well as volunteer work with English Language
Learners, makes me an exemplary candidate for this position.

My first classroom teaching experience occurred in my first year at the University of

Virginia, as I participated in a program called Cavaliers in the Classroom. This was
a weekly tutoring program for elementary school students, where I worked one-on-
one and in small groups with students who needed extra support and assistance.

I also volunteered with the VISAS (Volunteers with International Students, Staff, and
Scholars) program at UVA, which consisted of developing mini-lessons to teach
English to immigrants and refugees employed in the dining hall. This experience
was invaluable, as it provided opportunities to communicate with and engage
English Language Learners of differing fluency levels.

Finally, I have student teaching experience in a 6th grade Language Arts classroom at
Gainesville Middle School in Prince William County. My mentor teacher, Linda
Poague-Nhek, encouraged me to apply for this position following my successful
internship. With her guidance, I had the opportunity to work with both traditional
and extended level students, develop and execute lesson plans, and collaborate with
a team of professional educators.

My resume and references are included. Please feel free to call me at (703) 254-
3434 or email me at mek2qr@virginia.edu with any questions or clarifications. I
look forward to speaking with you.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Megan Klein
