DHS Final Exams Structure

School Year: 2017-2018

Semester: 1
Exam Schedule:
Exam Time Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,
January 16 January 17 January 18

8:10 – 9:25 AM Period 1 Period 4 Period 7

10:40 – 11:55 AM Period 2 Period 5 Period 8
1:10 – 2:25 PM Period 3 Period 6 Conflicts

Notes:
● A student having three exams on the same day may elect to move one of the exams.
It is the responsibility of the student to make arrangements with their teacher to
reschedule the exam. If a conflict persists, students/families are directed to contact the
Department Chair for resolution. There is a conflict period at the end of the final day to
allow the option of a makeup or alternatively scheduled exam.
● Exams are to be designed so that students may complete them within a 75-minute
time frame. The additional time balance between administrations is designed to meet the
needs of those students receiving test accommodations (and allow them a break prior to
an ensuing test). It also provides more break time for all students.
● Not all teachers give exams and do not meet during final exams. Department Chairs
identify which teachers are giving exams (maintain record for attendance).

Attendance Procedures:
● During finals week an EXM (Exempt) code will be used for all students. Teachers giving
exams will notify attendance office if a student does not show up for scheduled exam.

Previous Exams:
• During previous years, teachers marked students present/absent, rather than use an
exemption code.

Questions:
• What should attendance look like for AP exams and the time between the Seniors last day
of school and graduation (about 10 days)?
o Currently DHS uses the code SRM (school related meeting) for AP Exams and
SRG (Senior Graduate) for Seniors.
