D or MIRACRYL 2 PART
(TO BE READ IN CONJUNCTION WITH EACH PRODUCTS SPEC SHEET)
1) Ensure “Newline” shower tray or alternate substrate is installed to manufacturers
specification, and all wall linings are installed and nailed & screwed off properly.
2) Ensure surfaces are relatively clean and free of dust and laitance prior to priming.
3) Use “UNIPRIME” to prime all substrates such as, gib board, cement board, concrete and
cement based screeds.
4) When waterproofing a “Newline” shower tray use “ ROBERTS 34 SUPER PRIMER” (by mixing
equal portions of Part A and Part B thoroughly), concentrating on an even single coat, and
ensuring PVC traps are also well primed. Pre sanding the PVC trap is an advantage.
5) Once both primers are sufficiently dried, install “SIKASIL C GENERAL PURPOSE SILICONE” to
all wall/wall and wall/floor junctions for the purpose of acting as a bondbreaker. Finish off
silicone to a consistent scallop shape circa 10mm outwards from each junction.
6) Form all internal and external corner junctions with “BUTYLSEAL TAPE” or “ PREFORMED
CORNERS”.
7) When applying 80mm “BUTYLSEAL TAPE” to all junctions, firstly by measuring and cutting
the tape to the required length.
8) Apply tape to one substrate by removing split back paper backing and then the opposing
substrate.
9) Also apply a wider (150mm) strip of “BUTYLSEAL TAPE” over the waste outlet. Cut a small
hole in the middle & carefully turn the tape down into the centre of the waste outlet.
10) Once all tape is applied waterproofing can commence.
11) “FLEXI‐SEAL P.U.D” is used straight from the bucket, after giving a stir first, however
“MIRACRYL 2 PART” needs to be mixed in the ratio of 2.0 kg of powder into 1.20 litres of
liquid. As with tile adhesive always mix powder into the water.
12) Apply the first coat of “FLEXI‐SEAL P.U.D” or “MIRACRYL 2 PART” ensuring 100% even
coverage.
13) Apply liberally to ensure a good even thickness is applied for the first coat.
14) Apply second coat in same manner after first coat is cured, with the second coat
application applied 90 degrees to the first coat application.
15) Tilers must ensure cut tile edges are honed to a blunt finish, and hold cut edge back just
under a tile thickness from internal corners, to avoid tile edge from cutting into
waterproofing over time through expansion & contraction.
16) This void is then filled with a colour matched silicone, however using a PEF foam rod PRIOR
to tile installation is an economical alternative prior to siliconing to fill the gap.
17) Notch trowel lines under tiles hold water. This can cause the water to hydraulic up through
the grout lines when tiles are stood on. It also can have a softening effect on membranes.
Using a smaller notch trowel, and crosshatching adhesive, by notching one way on the floor
and the opposite way on the tile, can avoid this.
