ISP TRAFFIC CRASH

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 10:

WHAT: Traffic Crash Fatality

WHERE: Illinois Route 47 at Champaign County Road 3200 North

WHEN: March 1, 2018

VEHICLES: Blue 2007 BMW

Illinois passenger car

DRIVERS: Unit 1 - Female, 22, Bolingbrook, Illinois

Unit 2 - Male, 29, from Illinois (Deceased)

Passengers: Unit 1, Female, 22 Bolingbrook, Illinois

Preliminary: According to the preliminary crash investigation, Unit 1 and Unit 2 were
traveling southbound on Route 47 approaching Champaign County Road 3200
North. Unit 2 had slowed at the intersection and was in the process of making a
left turn onto Champaign County Road 3200 North traveling eastbound. Unit 1
collided with Unit 2 in the intersection while passing another vehicle.

TRANSPORTS: Unit 2 driver was transported to an area Hospital with serious injuries and
succumbed to those injuries at the Hospital. The driver and passenger of Unit 1
were transported to an area Hospital for observations with non-life threatening
injuries.

SEATBELTS: Seatbelts were worn by all involved

CHARGES: The driver of Unit 1 was charged with failure to reduce to avoid a traffic crash,
improper passing in an intersection, and disobeying a no passing zone.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
