Activity Sheet

Objectives:
 Classify reactions according to their types, based on how elements are grouped
or regrouped.
 Classify chemical reactions

Materials:
Activity Sheet
Manila paper
Pen-telpen

Procedure:
1. Read the guide card about the types of chemical reaction.

2. Indicate which of the types of chemical reaction are being represented below:

a. Fe+ CUSO4 FeSO4 + Cu

b. Mg + O2 Mg0

c.H2 O2 H2O + O2

d. CH3 COOH + NaHCO3 CH3 COONa

e.CuSO4 + NaOH Cu(OH)2 + Na2SO4

3. Look at the picture then identify what types of chemical reaction it indicates. Then
explain your answer.

Guide Card
1. Combination (Synthesis) reaction
A + B AB
Synthesis occurs when two or more chemicals combine to form a new chemical.
2. Decomposition reaction
AB A + B
Decomposition is the reverse of synthesis. In a decomposition reaction, one chemical
breaks down into two or more components.
3. Single Replacement reaction
A + BC AC+ B
. In a single replacement reaction, a single ion migrates from one molecule to another
4. Double Replacement reaction
AB+CD AD+ CB.
In a double replacement reaction, two molecules exchange ions to form two new
molecules.
