Review

Before we proceed to our new lessons, let’s have a review of

what have you learned in our last lesson. I have here some
sort of questions and all you have to do is to answer it.

Questions:
- Process in which one or more substances are
1. What is chemical reaction?
converted
2. What are the types of chemical reaction? - Combination, Decomposition, Single Replacement,
Double Replacement, Combustion, Acid base
Motivation reaction
I have here some pictures and you are going to give some
words related to the picture.

- Equal, The Same, Balance, Substance Toxic,

Chemicals

Objective setting: The teacher will give the learning

objectives for the lesson.

Explore ( minutes) Student’s Activity

Before we start the activity, please clear your area and be

aware of the rules in doing the activity.

 Follow instructions carefully

 Work collaboratively
 Work silently
 Respect each other’s idea
Students will be divided into 3 groups. Each groups will
choose a leader, secretary. Reporter and material manager.

3 groups will have different activities:

Identify what type of reaction is presented by the following
chemical equation.
Group 1:
1. O2 + N2 → NO2
2. FeBr3 + Na → NaBr + Fe
Group 2
1. H2 O →H2 + O2
2. Pb(s) + FeSO4(aq) → PbSO4(s) + Fe(s)
Group 3
1. CaSO4(aq) + Mg(OH)2(aq) → Ca(OH)2(aq)+ MgSO4(aq
2. Li(s) + F2(g) → LiF(s)

Explain ( minutes) Student’s Activity

Presentation of outputs. Students will present their answers

to the class. After each presentation, the teacher will
recognize or mention the strength of each group and give
them a reward.

After presenting each group, the student will give an “ Ang

galing clap.”

Very Good!

All of activities are connected with our topic for today which
is identifying types of chemical reaction by giving chemical
equations.

Elaborate ( minutes) Student’s Activity

Reactants- before reaction

Products – resulting from reaction

Symbols used in writing chemical equations:

Symbol Meaning
+ substances are added or mixed.
→ means “yields”, “makes”, “produces”, “forms”
separates the reactants from the products.
↓ means that a precipitate is formed.
↑ indicates that a gas has evolved.
(s) reactants or products are in solid form.
(l) reactants or products are in liquid form.
(g) reactants or products are in gas form.
(aq) an aqueous solution; the substance is dissolved
in water

∆ Indicates that heat is supplied.

Example of Chemical Equation:

1. Li + F2 LiF2
 Li + F2LiF2
-Combination Reaction
2.NaCl  Na + Cl
 CuCO3CuO + CO2
-Decomposition Reaction
3.Na + CuCl2 NaCl2 + Cu
 Na + CuCl2NaCl2 + Cu
4. MgI2 + Mn(SO3)2 → MgSO3 + MnI4 -Single Displacement Reaction
 MgI2 + Mn(SO3)2 → MgSO3 + MnI4
-Double Displacement Reaction
