Recount

Recount text diartikan sebagai "Text yang menceritakan". sebuah teks yang menceritakan sebuah
cerita, aksi ataupun aktifitas. Tujuan recount text adalah untuk menghibur atau menginformasikan
pembaca.

Generic structure (susunan umum) recount text ini terdiri dari:

 Orientation, menceritakan siapa saja yang terlibat dalam cerita, apa yang terjadi, di mana
tempat peristiwa terjadi, dan kapan terjadi peristiwanya.

 Events, menceritakan apa yang terjadi (lagi) dan menceritakan urutan ceritanya.

 Reorientation, berisi penutup cerita / akhir cerita).

Contoh :

My friends and I decided to visit Bali on our school holiday last month. There were a lot of places
to see in there. Because we never went to Bali before, we joined the tours to see as much as possible.
My friends and I stayed in one of hotel in Kuta on arrival.

In Kuta beach, we spent our two days by surfing and swimming. Fikri, one of my friends tried to
sunbathe as if he were a foreigner. We really enjoyed our time there. On the next day, we were ready
to visit the other place listed by the tour guide. the first place we visited was SIngaraja. Singaraja is a
city of about 95 thousands people. It is a busy city but quiet town. The street are lined with trees adn
ther are a lot of old Dutch houses. We learnt about history of SIngaraja there. Then we returned very
late to the hotel. We went to bed to regain our stamina.

Our last tour destination was Ubud. There were a lot of art and craft in Ubud. The first stop was at
Batu bulan, a center of stone sclupture. We watched young boys were carving away at big block of
stone. The next place we visited was Celuk, a center for silversmiths and goldensmiths. After that, we
had a lunch at Sukawati and continued touring to Mass, a tourist center. We bought some souvenirs in
there.

Our holiday ended very quickly. Beside visiting some places, all our days were spent on the
beach. We went sailing or surfboarding every day. We really enjoyed our holiday in Bali.

2. Narrative

Narrative text adalah salah satu jenis teks bahasa inggris yang bertujuan untuk menceritakan
suatu cerita yang memiliki rangkaian peristiwa kronologis yang saling terhubung. Narrative text
bertujuan untuk menghibur pembaca tentang suatu kisah atau cerita.

Generic structure (susunan umum) recount text ini terdiri dari:

1. Orientation
( Pendahuluan ) di mana karakter , setting , dan waktu cerita ditetapkan . Biasanya menjawab
pertanyaan siapa? kapan? dimana ? Misalnya: Once upon a time, there was a wolf lived in the forest.
2. Complication or problem

Menceritakan awal masalah yang menyebabkan krisis ( klimaks ). Complication biasanya

melibatkan karakter utama.

3. Resolution

Akhir dari cerita yang berupa solusi dari masalah. Perlu adanya resolusi dari masalah.
Masalah dapat diselesaikan dapat menjadi lebih baik atau malah lebih buruk, bahagia atau sedih .
Kadang-kadang ada beberapa komplikasi yang harus dipecahkan. Hal ini menambah dan
mempertahankan minat dan ketegangan bagi pembaca nya.

4. Reorientation/Coda

Pernyataan penutup cerita dan bersifat opsional. Bisa berisi tentang pelajaran moral, saran
atau pengajaran dari penulis.

Sam, the kind lion

Once upon a time, there lived a lion in the jungle. His name was Sam. Everybody in the
jungle knew him very well. and they didn’t want to make a friend with him. Because they were afraid
of him. Because his face was so scary and vicious.

One day, in a shiny morning, when Sam was sunbathing at the side of the river, he saw a
small antelope in danger. A giant snake came sneaking behind it. The giant snake was going to eat it.
Suddenly Sam jumped over the snake as soon as possible before the snake caught the small antelope
and scared the snake away.

Later, the small antelope felt relieved that Sam saved his life from the giant snake. After that,
he told the whole jungle that Sam was a kind lion. Sam just saved his life. So, there was no need to be
afraid of him. After that accident, Sam had a lot of friends.

3. Procedure

Procedure text adalah sebuah teks yang memberikan kita perintah atau instruksi untuk melakukan
sesuatu. teks yang dirancang untuk menggambarkan bagaimana sesuatu dicapai melalui urutan
tindakan atau langkah-langkah. Procedure text bertujuan untuk menggambarkan suatu perintah atau
instruksi tentang bagaimana sesuatu dicapai sesuai urutan atau langkah-langkah yang benar.

Beberapa ciri prosedure text adalah:

⦁ mengunakan Simple Present Tense (S+V1)
⦁ berbentuk imperative/bentuk perintah,
⦁ menggunakan action verbs, contoh: make, take, boil, cook,
⦁ menggunakan temporal conjunctions, contoh: First, then, next, after that, last

Generic Stucture of Procedure Text

Procedure text memiliki skema susunan umum atau generic structure. Berikut ini generic stucture of
procedure text:
⦁ Goal: memberikan informasi tentang maksud dan tujuan prosedur dan memprediksi suatu
kesimpulan.
⦁ Materials: berisi daftar materi atau bahan-bahan yang dibutuhkan untuk melakukan suatu prosedur
atau langkah-langkah.
⦁ Steps: daftar urutan instruksi/aktivitas untuk mencapai tujuan dalam urutan langkah yang benar.
⦁ Result: Hasil dari serangkaian langkah-langkah yang telah dilakukan.

How to Make Ice Cream

Materials:
2 cups milk or cream
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Several cups of Ice
1 cup salt
You need these supplies to make ice cream

Steps:

sehari-hari yang layak untuk diberitakan atau penting. Dan kejadian yang diberitakan biasanya
adalah kejadian atau peristiwa terbaru.

 Main Event/Newsworthy Event: adalah berita utama, bagian yang menceritakan ringkasan
dari suatu kejadian atau peristiwa penting yang terjadi.
 Background Event/Elaboration: menceritakan secara rinci latar belakang kejadian atau
peristiwa yang terjadi, siapa yang terlibat, dimana dan bagaimana peristiwa terjadi.
  Source: bagian terakhir dari struktur news item text, merupakan sumber berita bisa berupa
pernyataan narasumber, komentar saksi, pendapat para ahli, atau pernyataan dari pihak terkait
dari suatu peristiwa.

• Fokus pada suatu kejadian
• Dominan menggunakan saying verbs, seperti diberitakan, dikutik, mengatakan, memberitakan,

09:30 pm. Fire allegedly originated from a short electricity at the home of local residents. The spread

devoured. Many of people watched the accident and some of people put a water in bucket to watering
the fire.\

However , an hour and a half from the fire , the residents asked for help from the local fire

there are no victims in this fire but the huge losses. Masudin’s home was completely gone. No any

5. Report

Report text adalah jenis teks yang mengumumkan hasil penyelidikan atau mengumumkan sesuatu .
Informasi yang diberikan dalam teks laporan adalah informasi yang sangat umum. Tujuan dari report
text adalah untuk menyajikan informasi tentang sesuatu secara umum kepada pembaca.

Secara umum, report text menggambarkan hal-hal yang berkenaan dengan fenomena alam , buatan
manusia dan sosial di lingkungan kita , seperti : mamalia , planet-planet , batu , tanaman , negara-
negara dan kota, budaya , transportasi , dan sebagainya. Dan report text bersifat ilmiah karena
menyajikan fakta-fakta sebagai hasil penelitian atau observasi.

berisi pernyataan umum tentang subject yang dibicarakan atau dibahas.

Description
merupakan bagian yang memberikan gambaran secara detail mengenai subject yang dibahas pada
bagian general classification.

Football

6. Descriptive

Teks Deskriptif yaitu teks yang menjelaskan gambaran seseorang atau benda. Tujuannya
adalah untuk menggambarkan atau mengungkapkan orang, tempat atau benda tertentu. Bisa
dikatakan juga bahwa Descriptive text adalah teks yang menjelaskan tentang seperti apakah orang
atau benda yang dideskripsikan, baik bentuknya, sifat-sifatnya, jumlahnya dan lain-lain.

Struktur Descriptive Text (generic structure) adalah :

1. Identification (identifikasi) adalah pendahuluan , berupa gambaran umum tentang suatu topik.
2.Description (deskripsi) adalah berisi ciri-ciri khusus yang dimiliki benda, tempat, atau orang
yang dideskripsikan.
 Ciri-ciri Descriptive Text :
- Menggunakan simple present tense
- Menggunakan attribute verb, seperti be (am, is, are)
- Hanya fokus pada satu objek tersebut.

hortatory. Bila analytical exposition adalah teks exposition yang tidak disertai saran (hanya
menyertakan pendapat dan argumen), maka text hortatory exposition adalah text yang disertai saran.

 Hortatory

Hortatory Exposition Text adalah jenis teks yang menyajikan argumen atau alasan untuk
mendukung pendapat. Hal ini bertujuan untuk memengaruhi pembaca untuk melakukan sesuatu atau
bertindak dalam hal tertentu atau bertujuan untuk memberi nasihat.

Generic Stucture of hortatory teks

1. Thesis / Sebuah Pernyataan Pengantar :

Thesis berisi tentang pengenalan ide pokok penulis tentang suatu peristiwa atau kejadian yang akan
diangkat atau dibahas. Ini terdiri dari titik penulis pandang (tesis), preview argumen yang akan
mengikuti bagian berikutnya, dan pertanyaan atau pernyataan emosional untuk mendapatkan
perhatian pembaca.
2. Arguments
Arguments berisi tentang pendapat-pendapat yang mendukung ide pokok penulis. Semakin banyak
pendapat yang penulis tuliskan, semakin menarik sebuah Hortatory Exposition Text itu, karena
pembaca cenderung percaya terhadap suatu peristiwa jika terdapat banyak pendapat yang mendukung
di dalamnya.

Arguments biasanya untuk mendukung tentang tesis. Oleh karena itu diperlukan beberapa

2. Menggunakan Action verbs: value, dll.
3. Menggunakan temporal Connectives: firstly, secondly, thirdly, dll.
4. Menggunakan evaluative words; importanly, valuablly, trustworthly, dll.

Contoh Explanation text :

Digestion of Human

The human body is made up of millions of cells. Food is needed to build up new cells, to
replace the worn out cells. However, the food we consume must be changed into substances that can
be carried in the blood to the appropriate places. This process is called digestion.

The first digestive process takes place in the mouth. The food we eat is broken up into small
pieces by our teeth, mixed with saliva containing digestive juices which moisten the food, so it can be
swallowed easily.
 From the mouth, food passes through the esophagus-the food passage-into the stomach. Here
the food is mixed with the juices secreted by the cells in the stomach for several hours. Then,the food
enters the small intestine. All the time the muscular walls of the intestine are squeezing,mixing and
moving the food onwards.

In a few hours, the food change into acids. The acids are soon absorbed by the villi
(microscopic branch projection from the intestine walls) and passed into bloodstream.

Discussion Text adalah teks yang menyajikan wacana tentang sebuah masalah yang dibahas dari
sudut pandang yang berbeda. Tujuan dari Discussion Text adalah untuk menyajikan berbagai sudut
pandang yang berbeda tentang sebuah isu untuk membantu memperoleh pemahaman yang lengkap,
sehingga dapat dibuat kesimpulan yang tepat. Dalam bentuk tertulis, Discussion Text ini sering
berbentuk sebuah genre text yang lebih kompleks, seperti penelitian atau laporan ilmiah.

Struktur Kebahasaan Dari Discussion Text Terdiri Dari Empat Bagian:

1. Judul (Optional)
2. Thesis: Rumusan masalah yang akan dibahas.
3. Arguments: Pendapat yang dituliskan berhubungan dengan thesis. Dalam Discussion Text
umumnya terdapat dua argument yang berhubungan dengan thesis. Yaitu ARGUMENT
FOR/PRO yang mendukung thesis dan ARGUMENT AGAINST/CCONTRA yang
menyajikan poin lain yang tidak setuju dengan thesis.
4. Kesimpulan: dalam Discussion Text biasanya terdapat bagian kesimpulan yang
menyimpulkan masalah yang ada dalam thesis dengan mempertimbangkan argument-
argumen pro dan kontra yang telah disajikan.

Ciri kebahasaan dari Discussion Text adalah sebagai berikut:

@ Menggunakan thinking/ mental process verb; feel, hope, believe, etc

@ Menggunakan kata penghubung (Conjunction) additive, contrastive, and casual connection;

sesuatu. Apa yang diulas oleh review text? Biasanya, digunakan untuk mengulas produk seperti
telepon genggam, laptop, buku, jam tangan, dan komputer personal. Tujuannya Untuk memberikan
kritik atau evaluasi terhadap peristiwa atau karya seni untuk pembaca atau masyarakat umum.
Misalnya tentang film, movie, novel, produk dll. (To criticize or evaluate an event or art work, such
as; book, film, etc for the reader).

Generic Structure dari Review Text

1. Orientation

Orientation adalah sebuah pengenalan. Sebelum masuk ke dalam ulasan yang lebih
mendalam, penulis melakukan sedikit cuap-cuap mengenai apa yang ingin diulas. Hal itu bisa
dilakukan dengan cara menyebutkan nama produk, hal-hal yang akan dibahas, atau bahkan sedikit
membandingkan dengan produk yang lainnya.

2. Interpretation

dihasilkan.
3. Evaluation

Disini, akan dibahas mengenai evaluasi atau penilaian mengenai tab tersebut dari sudut
pandang penulis. Sebagai contoh, penulis memberikan kritikan bahwa tab yang sedang diulas belum
mampu diandalkan dalam pemakaian waktu jangka panjang karena kapasitas baterainya yang terlalu
rendah. Kemudian, ada pula kritikan mengenai kualitas casing yang hanya terbuat dari plastik kualitas
rendah sehingga sangat mudah rusak.

accoustic guitar, and minimal piano. It is a nice combination with Caillat’s soft vocal. The music
video of this song involves female fans and artists, such as Sara Bareilles, Jessie J, Christina Perri,
Sheryl Crow, and others, without any makeup on. From the lyric, Caillat wants to promote about the
real and natural beauty.

You can look to the this lyric “Put your makeup on/Get you nails done/Curl your hair/Run the
extra mile/Keep it slim, so they like you, do they like you?”. It explains how women try to beautify
themselves to make other people happy and love them. Then, in the chorus she sings “You don’t have
to try so hard/ You don’t have to give all away/ You just have to get up, get up, get up/ You don’t
have to change a single thing.” In that point, Caillat tries to persuade women not to push themselves
to be beautiful. They don’t have to change themselves into someone else because they already have
their natural beauty. They just need to be confident and proud of themselves.

I conclude that this song is really cool with its very positive message to all of women in this world.

Advertisement (iklan) adalah media pemasaran yang bertujuan untuk mengajak pendengar atau
pembaca untuk membeli atau menggunakan barang atau jasa yang ditawarkan dalam iklan tersebut.

Announcement (pengumuman) adalah pernyataan (pemberitahuan resmi) dalam bentuk lisan

mendengar atau membaca pengumuman tersebut berkepentingan atas pengumuman tersebut.
Pengumuman dapat kita dengar atau baca dimana saja, misalnya pengumuman lisan disekolah atau
