ABSTRACT :

This Project facilitates the administrator to login to login form and make the user to book
reservations in Airlines either using Domestic flights and international flights .In Airlines
Reservation system, When user clicks Domestic Flights Domestic Flights table is viewed .If user
clicks International Flights, International flights table is viewed. Administrator has to enter
username, password, If username and password are not matched with the existing username,
password it displays “Invalid Username and Password”, otherwise Domestic Flight booking and
International Flight booking is viewed. If Domestic Flight Booking is clicked, administrator has
to enter all the detail like From, to, Adults, Infants, children, Date, Economic/Business and click
“Flight Book ”button. It displays another window with all the details we entered. If we have no
access “You have no access”. If there are no seats available it displays “sorry seats are full”. If
International Flight Booking is clicked, administrator has to enter all the details like From, to,
Adults, Infants, children, Date, Economic/Business and click “Flight Book ”button. It displays
another window with all the details we entered. If we have no access “You have no access”. If

INTRODUCTION :

World has seen the most technological boom in the last fifty years, with the innovations in every
field made possible now for making the human life easier and more comfortable. Airlines
industry has evolved into one of the most sophisticated and fascinating industries of today.
Airlines industry has made the dream of flying of the humans into a reality in less than a century.
Today, millions of people fly every day. This has strengthened not only the economies of places
but also connected people and cultures. The advancement of technology has led to big progress
in the system of flight ticket booking over the years. Tickets are the documents that confirm
purchase and guarantee a seat on the airplane for the chosen journey. Tickets are required as a
proof to get the boarding pass at the airport, which is needed in order to board the aircraft. The
traditional tickets on the early days of air travel were made of paper and were to be collected
from the travel agencies or airline office after purchasing. Along with globalization and the
development of aviation industry, the process of ticket purchasing has also changed. Since the
rapid growth and use of internet since the 2000s, ticket purchasing has been possible online.
Decreasing number of people are now using the traditional paper ticket while almost all major
airlines have given the possibility of online tickets, commonly known as e-ticket. A ticket today
contains the information of the passenger’s name, date of travel, the flight number, destination
and origin of travel, fare, taxes, baggage information, rules on changes and refunds, form of
payments and the validity of the ticket. In this thesis, the system behind online ticket booking
especially used by airlines is going to be explained along with a demonstration of a working
application to show sample online booking. Various sources such as e-books, online articles and
websites have been referred to gather the materials for the thesis. The thesis has been completed
with the co-operation with the supervisor to take in his valuable 2 ideas and suggestions for the
improvement of the work. The paper has been written with the help of information absorbed
from the sources mentioned above and displayed with own understanding. The topic has been
chosen as a result of author’s interest in the mechanism of modern flight booking process.

Domain:
Domain is nothing but the details study of the particular area and analysis the things going on.
domain is an area or field in which human being are more dependent. Any organizations or
enterprises or manufacturing companies will come under any particular domain. A domain is a
combination of several sub domains.

Sub Domain:
The element which comes under the respective domain is called sub domain. And in other words
the sub domain in the sub topic of the study.

Airline Reservation System:

Airline Reservation System is web based booking engine connected with global
GDS systems including Amadeus, Galileo and Sabre, which consolidates the data from all the
airlines. The booking engine connected with GDS systems, provides better inventory and rates to
end customers and travel agencies. Global travel companies are going for online airline
reservation software because of 24/7 availability and real time bookings.
Definition of Airline Reservation System.
Before defining the term Airline Reservation System, terms such as System, computerized,
Airline Industry, And reservation should be define.

System:
can be defined as a set of detailed method or procedure which is used to carry out a dutyor a task.

Computerized:
this has to do with the entering of a process, or store information in a computer information
system,
Reservation:
Simply means the act of keeping back, with held. In terms of records and data it also means a
written record or promise of an arrangement by which the task or data is are securedin advance.
Airline Industry:
can be define as the type of industry which is responsible for the transportation of passengers
such as peoples, cargos, good and service from on destination to another through air by means of
Helicopter or Aero-plane in other to make profit.

SYSTEM ANALYSIS :-
Existing System:

Currently, whenever a person wants to travel by air, he has to go to the airport to book the ticket
which was a very tedious task. Even if the user need to know the timing, flight name, know
about accommodation of the flight he has to go for airport which was a very tedious task.

Proposed System:

In order to eliminate the drawbacks of the existing system, a system has been

developed due to which the person need not spend much time in booking, the ticket and instead
server is built that takes care of every transaction thereby reducing the burden of customer.

Purpose :

The purpose of the system, which has been developed, is to allow an end user to interact

that provides some basic features such as acquiring flights information, availability of

accommodation in flights, booking of tickets, preferred service class. This will also save a lot of
time.

Hardware and Software Requirements:

Processor : Intel Pentium based system

Processor speed : 250 MHz to 833MHz

RAM : 128 MB to 2GB

Software Requirements:

Technologies : CORE JAVA

Operating System : Windows 2000 Prof/XP

SYSTEM DESIGN :

This chapter deals with the way data and information are analyzed and processed in design of the Airline
Reservation System. It also covers the harmonic cooperation of the input and output and thus, encompasses the
different steps involved in the development of the system and how constituent controls are designed and
implemented with reference to the design of the database

Input Design :

Here, the various input on forms used in the development and design of the new system
are specified. The input is basically done by clicking a Command button on the form, typing in to Text Boxes or
changing the value of Combo boxes. The following are the different forms’ input design of the new system.

Input :

• Schedule and capacity

- flight departure and arrival times

- cabin capacities

- sales restrictions

• Demand and cancellation forecast

 - based on observed bookings in the past

- low level :

- route (origin / destination / flight list)

- point of sale

- passenger type 5

- day of week / season

- fare class

- overrules for specific departure dates

Output Design :

The output of the system deals with the way information/data are being retrieved from the
database. It is designed in such a way to ensure close connection and easy communication between input
forms, output forms and the database engine.

MODULES :

The 2 modules and their roles are:

Domestic Flight

International Flight

In Airlines Reservation system, when a user click Domestic Flights Domestic Flights table is
viewed. If user clicks International Flights, International flights table is viewed. Administrator

Advantages :

- simple (linear programming)

- well solvable (large instances)

- easily extendable to multi-cabin flights

Disadvantages

- fractional solutions

- deterministic (average demand)

CONCLUSION
Airline Reservation System (ARS) has led to ease of airline ticketing, flight scheduling and also provided a
means for customers to access and book flights with ease and in time. It has also in creased the
speed with which information about customers are retrieved and handled and flights scheduling is tasked.
