Definitions

Average Wheel Spacing Average wheel spacing based on spacing between wheels under a crane leg.
Backreach Distance between furthest landside trolley position and the landside rail.
Boom hoist time Time to raise or lower boom.
Bumper to Bumper distance Distance between uncompressed crane bumpers.
Clear Height at Portal Clearance between the top of rail and bottom of portal beam.
Duty Cycles Movement of trolley from either position over ship to wharf, or position over wharf to ship.
mpm Meters per minute.

Lift above rail Distance from top of rail to the maximum elevation that the top of the container can be lifted.
MT Machinery trolley, machinery located on the trolley.
Outreach Distance between waterside rail and furthest waterside trolley location.
RT Rope trolley, no machinery on the trolley.
Setback Distance from fender face to waterside rail.
SWL< Stowed wind load in most critical direction.
SWLZ Stowed wind load in the direction of gantry travel.

Total lift Distance between the minimum and the maximum elevation that the top of the container can be lifted.
Basic wind speed Basic wind speed 33 ft above the wharf specified by stowed wind design code.
Design wind speed Design wind speed incorporating gust and exposure factors for comparison purposes. Design Speed = Basic Wind Speed (GKz)^.5
