Part I: Identification of Learning Problem and Learner Analysis

Target Audience
The target audience consists a class of 28 students enrolled in a 9th/ 10th grade Introduction to
Digital Technology pathway course. This high school in Muscogee County, Georgia has about
1,200 students enrolled. All students for this class are between the ages of 14 and 16. This group
of students includes: 15 African-American, 3 one or more races, 1 Hispanic, and 9 Caucasians.
Among these students, 4 have been diagnosed with a learning disability and 0 with special needs.
There are 5 girls, and 23 boys. English is their first language at home for all but 1. Table 1.1
shows the demographics of Ms. Gates 9th grade History class.

Problem Identification
Mrs. K is a Web and Digital Design high school teacher. High school students must complete
three courses in a related field to graduate with the pathway program. Thus, all of her students
must take “Introduction to Digital Technology”. As one of the course standards, students must
“Identify logistical, ethical, and legal Issues related to digital media and apply concepts to use of
text, graphics, animation, sound, video, and digital images in digital products.” More over
students, and digital citizen, create research projects and presentations about several themes over
their educational and professional lifetime. Because these concepts have many different laws and
guidelines, it is often a weakness of students to understand and follow ownership rights.
Additionally, using technology, including the Internet, to produce, publish, and update individual
or shared writing products, is one of the ELA standards for the students. Learners also have
difficulty taking advantage of technology's capacity to link to other information and to display
information flexibly and dynamically. When I talked to Mrs. K about creating a lesson that dealt
with copyright and allowing the students to display information enthusiastically, she thought it
would be a good idea, and we began collaborating.
Instructional Goals
Learners will:
● Take a pre-test about Copyright, Public Domain, Fair Use, and Creative Commons on the
internet.
● Go to a Google Slides, created by the teacher to complete an online class on Copyright,
Public Domain, Fair Use, and Creative Commons.
● Create an infographic about Copyright, Public Domain, Fair Use, and Creative
Commons.
● Take a post-test (same as pre-test) after going through activity.

Part II: Task Analysis

Task Analysis Outline for collaborative lesson

1. Students will be given a pre-test to evaluate their knowledge using Google Forms. It will
be attached/ assigned using google classroom.

2. Using google classroom, students will click on the direct link to the Slide Presentation.
Students will be reminded to take detailed notes to help their understanding of Copyright,
Public Domain, Fair Use, and Creative Commons. This will help them in their activity
and post assessment.

3. Inside the presentation slides there is a video to hook the students. They then read slides
2-10 to become familiar with the learning outcome. There is a Copyright and Fair Use
Guidelines for Students. After that, students will find public domain resources, additional
resources for images, and how to cite your sources. The last two slides have the
Infographic Activity and Rubric.

4. After participating with the online video and slides, students will go to Canva.com and
create an infographic. Students will be instructed to use site tutorials to help facilitate
basic functions.
5. Once students download and submit their infographic, they will be encouraged to review
notes/ original slide to review before taking posttest.
