1. Introduction.
The instructional opportunity that I would like to focus on is the lack of efficient training
that teachers receive on their use of technologies in the classroom. For the purposes of this
project I am focusing on the teaching staff at Wiggs Middle School in El Paso, TX. There are
approximately 70 teachers, varying in age from their mid-20’s to their 60’s. Teachers at this
school have basic knowledge on the use of computers. However, many are not confident in their
use of applications such as Prezi, YouTube, or Google Forms. Few teachers incorporate these
technologies into their lessons due to lack of knowledge and practice using these applications.
Upon speaking to a teacher at this school, it was mentioned that a reason behind the lack of use
of technologies in the classroom include, lack of time to develop interactive lessons, and
inconsistent training.
Students are more inclined to the use of technology and want more interactive lessons,
which presents an issue when teachers are not properly trained on the development of interactive
lessons. My proposed training solution will improve the skills that teachers need to construct
interactive lessons. Because this training module is self-paced and web-based it will motivate
teachers to learn these skills through the training because it will be time efficient, flexible with
their schedules, and will increase their efficiency in the use of these technologies. Ultimately,
Teachers often receive training that is too short in comparison to the amount of
information they are receiving. This training module will focus on the development of an
interactive lesson using Prezi, YouTube, and Google Forms. A common trend as to why many
teachers do not incorporate these technologies is because they haven’t been efficiently trained on

their use. This includes the amount of time spent on the training versus the amount of
information given, there is often too much information given without enough time to understand
their use. Another issue that was discussed was the assumption that teachers possess certain basic
skills on these applications. These basics skills are not explained and the instructor will then
move on to more complex skills, this leads to confusion from the learners. The material isn’t
learned nor the skills acquired. To address these issues the module will be self-paced and
accessible through the web, making it easier for learners to access it when it’s convenient for
them while allowing them to take as much time as they need to fully grasp the content. A
“refresher” on YouTube, Prezi, and Google Forms will also be included to go over the basic uses
of these applications. This will help learners who have not been introduced to these applications
learn basic functions such as signing up, and will refresh the memory of those who are familiar
with them. In this manner, this training module will be appropriate for beginners and for those
The final product will be a training program in which learners develop an interactive
lesson using Prezi that will include a YouTube video and a Google Form survey/quiz that they
will create. This training module will be split into four sections, learners will be able to either use
the information from a lesson they have already made or create one from scratch. Section one
will be a how-to on creating a Prezi. This will include how to sign up, how to choose a template,
how to create slides, edit, how to save a presentation, and how to present. It will be noted in this
section to create two additional slides in order for the learner to incorporate the two other
applications Section two will be how to add a video from YouTube to a slide on Prezi, this will
also include step-by-step instructions such as how to sign up, embedding a video, and copying

and sharing a link. Step three will be the creation of a Google Form survey or quiz and how to
share it via email and through a link. The survey/quiz will include a variety of questions ranging
from open-ended questions, multiple choice, and fill in the blank. The final section will be how
to put all of the work that has been created together, and how to present or share the interactive
Prezi lesson. As described in my discussion post from week 4 my learning goal and objectives
are as follows;
“Goal: Upon completing this training, learners will be able to create an interactive lesson
learners will be able to successfully share and upload a YouTube video on a presentation
software (Prezi).
Objective 2: After reviewing the step by step instructions on creating a google form
questions which will be made up of multiple choice, fill in the blank, and open ended
questions.
Objective 3: After reviewing instruction, learners will be able to create a lesson plan on
Prezi of at least 12 slides that incorporates a YouTube video, the Google form
survey/quiz and will be able to successfully share the link to the presentation and present

5. Summary
My main goal is to design and develop a training module that is simple, easy to follow,
flexible, and effective in developing basic skills in the use of technologies in the classroom.
Teachers should have the ability to learn how to integrate commonly used applications such as
YouTube, Prezi, and Google Forms efficiently. These are skills that are becoming necessary in a
world where education and technology have become reliant one each other. There is constant
demand for the use of technology for the purpose of education and with constant applications
coming onto the market it’s important that educators acquire basic skills so that they can develop
more complex skills. Phase two of this project will further explain learner needs and will provide
